As the Biopharmaceutical Business Unit Director (Respiratory & Immunology) you have primary responsibility for sales involving planning, directing and controlling the development and profitable operation of the company consistent with corporate guidelines.
The portfolio not only includes current products, but also new product introduction and new channels and lines expansion. The role includes accountability for the short-term performance and long-term business success, execution, implementation and achievement of AstraZeneca’s business goals in the specific therapeutic area. Working closely with the Country President and the leadership team, you will be accountable for formulating all strategic goals in relation to the current and new product portfolio to ensure they are successful and provide a strong platform for continued growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure strategic objectives and business direction are aligned so that the attainment of profit and operational goals are met. This includes current market products, new product introductions, business model evaluation and expansion into new channels.
- Hire, develop and retain top talents by ensuring discipline in talent reviews and succession planning and championing people development activities.
- Build capability in team around portfolio selling, key account management, business planning with integrated therapy areas as well as driving launch excellence with Marketing and Channel Marketing
- Establish, develop, implement and improve necessary processes to problem solve, eliminate obstacles and lead multiple projects in a dynamic environment
- Develop and deliver business plans and performance targets based on trend analysis
- Monitor and achieve targeted objectives for market performance, efficiency and financial performance
- Lead and monitor sales team activities and performance such as long-range planning, pricing and promotions.
- Ensure a culture of ethics, integrity, and compliance is embedded in all business practices alongside full accountability for effective oversight and open upward reporting of compliance status in partnership with Global Compliance.
Requirements:
- A seasoned commercial leader with a proven track record of successfully leading teams across multiple therapeutic areas.
- Demonstrated experience in effectively managing and motivating teams to achieve exceptional results, with a strong emphasis on driving high performance.
- Possesses a comprehensive understanding of pharmaceutical product development and commercialization in Malaysia and/or emerging markets, including a successful track record of leading new product launches for profitability.
- Proven ability to cultivate and manage relationships and collaborations with key decision makers in the local healthcare system, government agencies, regulatory bodies, and the patient community.
- Educational background in science and/or commerce, preferably complemented by an MBA from a reputable university.
