Our Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) Medical Affairs function is an industry-leading Medical Affairs team transforming care, generating and communicating compelling medical evidence that changes the practice of medicine for the benefit of patients and shapes the future of AstraZeneca. What you’ll do
The Medical Excellence Lead is an office-based strategic leadership role who works in partnership with the Medical Director and the Medical Leadership team across all Medical Affairs functions and teams to create a high-performing and industry-leading Medical Affairs team which transforms care for patients delivers on the company’s strategy in Australia and New Zealand.
Some key responsibilities include:
Partners closely with Medical Leadership team to ensure the local Medical Affairs function is strategically aligned with the company objectives and ambitious goals.
Provides strategic direction and scientific leadership within the Medical Affairs Team, establishing high standards of medical capability, and driving business/resource planning.
In collaboration with Medical Leadership team leading the transformation of the Medical Affairs team into a high-performing, industry-leading entity that excels in medical strategy and execution.
Identifying opportunities for process and system optimization, and championing digital and omnichannel initiatives to enhance medical engagement.
Collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to provide frameworks and support for launch excellence, digital & transforming care initiatives.
Demonstrates strong networking, consulting, communication, and influencing skills, and effectively managing key internal and external relationships, including with the Medical Team, Commercial Excellence, and International/Global Medical teams.
Reviewing industry and healthcare system trends to ensure the Medical Affairs team is equipped with future-ready capabilities.
Essential for the role
University degree or relevant business qualification
Significant experience within medical affairs
Understanding of the Business and Medical planning process and external engagement model and strategies
Strong track record of delivering medical projects and project management skills
Experience and skills in developing relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Understanding of omnichannel, (external) customer journeys, content, and assets creation
Ability to work well in and across diverse teams
Strong communication, influencing skills change management skills
Proven skills of managing budgets, resources and timelines
Strong change management skills
Desirable for the role
Extensive experience in driving digital transformation, omnichannel strategy, and digital analytics.
Leader within pharma thought leadership networks and organisations.
Experience with platforms and technologies used in delivering medical strategy
Experience of engagement and influencing of above country stakeholders
Previous experience in field medical or customer facing role
