We are currently seeking a driven and visionary Country Leader join our team in the Andean Cluster, based in Lima, Perú. As Country Director for Peru, Ecuador, and Venezuela AstraZeneca’s markets, you will be responsible for working collaboratively with Andean Region Business Unit Directors and other Enabling Functions to ensure that the business strategies are implemented and financial objectives are achieved. Also includes representing all employees in these countries during holding company activities or official bodies. Your role will involve leading the development and execution of Commercial, Government Affairs, Market Access, and Sales strategies, with a focus on ensuring the profitability and efficiency of these markets. You will be tasked with monitoring and measuring performance against objectives and KPIs, while also ensuring that all operations within AstraZeneca Peru, Ecuador and Venezuela follow to local, global, and corporate compliance policies as well as legal norms and requirements.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leadership and Strategic Direction
- Provide overall leadership and direction for operations and business activities within Peru, Ecuador, and Venezuela in alignment with the Andean Cluster Hub.
- Hold overall management and legal responsibility for these countries with support from the management teams.
- Act as a counselor to Andean Cluster’s Hub, identifying and emphasizing potential business opportunities and making recommendations to positively impact the overall business or protect these markets.
Financial Management and Business Results
- Work together with Business Unit Directors and Enabling functions in the hub to develop and implement business strategies aligned with financial targets and objectives within Peru, Ecuador and Venezuela.
- Achieve business results for these countries while upholding the company's code of conduct and corporate integrity program.
- In conjunction with Business Unit Directors achieve financial and operational targets established for these countries.
- Partnering with BUD’s to manage sales and costs budgets, local sales inventory, and manage working capital within these markets.
- Propose annual budgets and strategic plans for these countries within the framework of overall Cluster strategies and objectives.
Operational Excellence and Best Practices
- Ensure the organization is adequately staffed and structured by managing critical HR processes and activities.
- Establish and lead the local Management Team, maintaining adequate levels of engagement and motivation using appropriate HR, Compliance policies and management tools.
- Ensure that all functional activities within these countries contribute to regional/cluster projects by developing support mechanisms for best-practices sharing across the organization.
- Conduct monitoring exercises every quarter and report any findings to the global monitoring team within these markets.
- Encourage a culture of innovation and adaptability to respond to changing market dynamics and business opportunities.
Relationship Management and Talent Development
- Develop and nurture customer relationships with key opinion leaders and government officials within Peru, Ecuador, and Venezuela.
- Foster a culture of collaboration and teamwork to optimize performance and achieve financial goals.
- Lead and develop a high-performing team, providing guidance, coaching, and support to drive individual and collective success.
Compliance and Regulatory Management
- Ensure the establishment and appropriate implementation of a robust compliance framework in AstraZeneca within these countries.
- Promote a culture of full compliance with regulatory and corporate requirements of the company and local health authorities in these AZ markets.
- Assure proper and productive contact points with local authorities, managing contact points under the Company’s compliance framework to guarantee appropriate local operation licenses.
EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:
- University degree in Business Administration, Economics, Sales and Marketing, or a related field, preferably at an advanced level such as an MBA.
- More than 10 years of proven success in effectively leading large and complex commercial operations within the pharmaceutical industry.
- Track record of driving P&L results with expertise in financial management.
- Extensive experience in leading cross-functional teams, developing organizational capabilities, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Superior intellectual capacity with exceptional human relations, team building, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional organizational skills, with a proven ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated success in building and managing strong relationships with stakeholders and government entities.
- Proven passion and ability to attract, develop, and retain top talent, driving a sustainable development culture and contributing to a net export of talent within the organization.
- Work collaboratively and get hands-on with other partners within Andean Hub (Colombia).
