US Diagnostics Lead
Introduction to role
The US Diagnostics Lead’s primary responsibility is to lead the execution of US Commercial Diagnostic initiatives to ensure rapid diagnosis, effective long-term treatment, and improved patient outcomes across our existing and future portfolio for patients in their respective therapeutic areas. In addition, this role will require coordination across all internal stakeholders to ensure alignment in the best practice of diagnosis.
Accountabilities
- Identifying and implementing changes that drive earlier patient diagnosis, quality testing, and reporting.
- Seeking protocol/algorithm changes resulting in testing/retesting of appropriate patients and appropriate diagnostic interventions to reduce the patient journey
- Working to improve system processes for patient diagnosis and increase knowledge of high-quality testing in product pre- and post approval phases.
- Understanding the diagnostic challenges, best practices for testing, and has a practical perspective on the systems and infrastructure surrounding testing
- Familiarity with practice guidelines around diagnostics for each therapy area by acting as a subject matter expert (SME) to internal and external stakeholders, including responding to unsolicited request for approved information about Alexion diagnostic topics
- Aligning with key stakeholders that seek to identify relevant patients with rare diseases through thoughtful interaction focused on which test to order, which patients to test, and what the results mean in the context of the diagnostic pathway.
- Working collaboratively with multiple cross-functional areas including: sales, marketing, medical, legal, HEOR, market access, strategic accounts, and business ops to drive success.
- Identifying and working closely with internal teams to identify and develop Key Opinion Leaders (KOL) in diagnostics. H/She will create broad, diagnostic community advocacy through collaboration with KOL and their network.
- Coordinating and communicating the needs of the business units with the rest of the US Commercial Diagnostics team to ensure all relevant KPI and business objectives are being met.
- Participating in conferences, roundtables, and professional societies to ensure business intelligence is current and evangelized internally.
Essential Skills/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree
- 5+ years field-based experience in diagnostics and/or biopharmaceutical industry.
- Experience with Local and National Reference Labs, GPO, and IHN.
- The ability to provide clinical/scientific education to assist internal teams and external partners engaged in working with healthcare providers and laboratorians in make clinical decisions, improving laboratory processes, and understanding the diagnostic landscape.
- A strong knowledge of laboratory business models and operations is required.
- Proficiency in how EHR and LIS integrate into the care and diagnosis of patients in GPO, IHN, Core Labs, Reference Labs, hospital systems, and individual hospitals.
- Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and cross-collaboratively with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated success in changing protocols/algorithms in a healthcare setting.

- Ability to travel 50% which will include frequent overnight and some weekend travel
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- The duties of this role are generally conducted in a field environment. - Advanced Degree (MBA, MT, MD, PharmD, Ph.D., RN, etc.)
The annual base pay for this position ranges from $159,146.40 to $238,719.60. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
