Oncology Group Purchasing National Account Director
The Oncology Group Purchasing National Account Director is responsible for developing and managing strategic relationships with oncology group purchasing organizations (GPOs). This role focuses on ensuring product access across the AstraZeneca Oncology portfolio by aligning company offerings, including GPO contracts, with organizational priorities and purchasing groups. The Account Director will serve as the primary liaison between the company and the assigned GPO, implementing business strategies that improve product access and utilization.
Accountabilities
Strategic Account Management:
- Main point of contact for assigned oncology-focused GPOs, networks, and corporate account stakeholders.
- Develop and implement business-specific strategies aligned with AZ and GP company goals to enhance contract performance and drive product adoption
Contracting and Negotiations:
- Lead contract negotiations with GPOs and oncology networks, ensuring mutually beneficial terms.
- Supervise compliance with contract terms and ensure timely renewals and modifications.
Relationship Development:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with decision-makers, influencers, and clinical leaders within GPOs and key stakeholders.
- Act as a trusted advisor to customers, providing insights on product access, reimbursement, and clinical value.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with internal teams including HQ Franchise teams, Oncology Market Access teams, Medical Affairs, Legal, and Compliance to support account strategy and execution.
- Provide field insights to advise marketing, pricing, and contracting strategies.
Performance Analysis & Reporting:
- Track and analyze account performance against targets.
- Provide regular updates to senior leadership on opportunities, risks, and results.
Industry & Market Intelligence:
- Stay informed on healthcare trends, oncology therapeutic areas, competitive landscape, and evolving GPO dynamics.
- Identify new opportunities for strategic partnership and portfolio expansion within accounts.
Essential Skills/Experience
- Bachelor's degree required in life sciences, business, or related field
- 7 years of experience in pharmaceutical or biotech industry, with a focus on oncology and/or GPO/IDN account management.
- Consistent track record leading complex accounts and driving revenue growth.
- Strong understanding of the oncology marketplace, drug reimbursement, and value-based healthcare.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- - Ability to travel as required.
Desirable Skills/Experience
- MBA or advanced degree
- Experience working with large GPOs (e.g., McKesson, Cencora, Onmark, ION).
- Deep knowledge of oncology product access pathways and payer/provider decision-making processes.
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical and financial savvy.
- Proficiency in CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
