Country Director, Nordics - Alexion

As the Country Director for Nordics, you'll spearhead and be fully accountable for our Alexion Rare Disease business, actively improving patient equity of access and journeys, driving product launches and navigating complex marketlandscapes across Finland, Norway, Sweden, Iceland, and Denmark. Your leadership will shape the local teams, encompassing commercial, medical, market access, patient advocacy, and in cross-functional collaboration with synergistic CENE resources in business analytics, finance, legal and HRto foster long-term growth.Bring your vision, leadership, and entrepreneurial spirit to tackle the exciting opportunities and challenges ahead for Alexion rare disease. The job location is Stockholm.
Reporting directly to the VP, Area Head, Central & Northern Europe Area (CENE), this role is pivotal in driving our mission forward.
What you’ll do:
The role shapes and communicates the long‑term strategy for Alexion’s rare disease portfolio across the Nordics, aligning with CENE priorities while anticipating market shifts and uncovering new growth opportunities to deliver on our ambitions. It leads local business operations end to end—translating global strategy into impactful, locally relevant execution—and serves as a visible ambassador for Alexion, fostering meaningful external partnerships and strengthening our reputation. Internally, it builds trusted relationships across global, area, and country teams, championing truly cross‑functional collaboration with Regulatory Affairs, Medical, Legal, Quality, Compliance, Safety, Communications, Customer Operations, HR, and Finance. A high‑performing, diverse team is hired, developed, and empowered for today and tomorrow—attracting and retaining talent, nurturing potential, and driving shared accountability for results. Above all, the role embeds a culture of ethics, integrity, inclusion, and compliance in everything we do, ensuring our work advances patient impact and sustainable business performance.
Essentials for the role:
- Master’s degree in science or business (or equivalent experience)
- Consistent track record in market access and business unit leadership, with robust people management experience
- Deep understanding of the Nordic healthcare environment and strong stakeholder engagement experience
- Strong familiarity with Medical Affairs and Patient Advocacy Group collaboration
- Exceptional strategic and cross‑functional leadership, aligning disease strategies across Medical, Access, Government Affairs, PAG, and enabling teams
- Proven track record in building teams, setting a clear vision, and developing individuals
- Strength in complex problem‑solving, sound decision‑making, and outcome orientation
- Influencing skills across senior leaders and matrix teams
- Fluency in English and at least one Nordic language (FI, NO, SE, or DK)
Desirable Skills/Experience:
- Additional Nordic language skills is a plus
- Rare disease experience, preferably in hematology, nephrology, and/or neurology
