College Park Site Energy & Sustainability Lead

This is what you will do:

The College Park Energy & Sustainability Lead will support the delivery of the Sustainability Strategy for the Alexion Dublin Manufacturing Facility by providing technical and operational expertise in the identification and implementation of Energy, Water and Carbon reductions initiatives. The role will also focus on driving employee engagement in sustainability initiatives across all levels of the organization and promoting cross-functional collaboration.

This role will also be responsible for measuring consumption and reporting energy usage against site targets and will liaise with the site energy procurement partner to manage energy procurement, invoicing and spend forecasting.

You will be responsible for:

• Ensuring energy efficiency and sustainability measures are optimized for site operations to reductions in energy intensity (kWh per unit produced).
• Benchmark energy consumption against best practice guidelines.
• Support site Energy Audits.
• Manage the site ISO 50001 system.
• Analyze the sites energy use and consumption. Own the Site Energy Monitoring System and coordinate with the energy monitoring system provider.
• Identify opportunities for improving energy performance and maintain a live register of opportunities. 
• Act as SME for energy efficiency initiatives and contribute to the Energy Efficient Design (EED) process.
• Oversee the project management of all energy-related saving initiatives.
• Chair energy team meetings and compile energy consumption reports on a monthly basis.
• Subject Matter Expert (SME) input into the sustainability aspects of site capital projects / expansions.
• Encourage and sustain a high sustainability culture and performance within site teams. 
• Ensure compliance to both Alexion Governance standards and Regulatory requirements.
• Developing and delivering training programs to upskill staff on energy efficiency and sustainability practices.
• Liaising with external organizations, including regulatory bodies, suppliers, and sustainability partners, to stay updated on industry trends and ensure best practices.
• Develop and maintain a multi-year sustainability roadmap to drive down energy consumption and carbon footprint for ADMF operations aligned with the Astra Zeneca Ambition Zero Carbon.
• Lead the energy procurement process with ADMF & AAMF SHE, Global Strategic Sourcing and the Alexion energy sourcing partner, preparing annual rolling three-year forecast for the financial budget cycle.
• Manage the process for identifying, contracting and operational renewable electricity and gas agreements. Develop and lead the governance of these long term contracts.

You will need to have:

• Experience in best practice for energy management, including leading and/or guiding energy management teams.
• 5+ years in a similar type of role.
• Strong communication and presentation skills to convey energy-related topics to non-technical individuals.
• Experience in project management from concept stage to handover.
• Strong technical capabilities, teamwork abilities and initiative.
• Proven ability to work well as part of a team & on own.

We would prefer for you to have:

• A Level 8 Honours degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Facilities, or equivalent technical discipline.
• An Energy Manager qualification.
• Working knowledge or practical experience in renewable technologies.
• Certification or training in Lean or Six Sigma methodologies for process improvement.
