Global Pricing & Access Lead, Rare Neurology

You will operate in a highly visible, strategic position with broad cross-functional exposure, leading portfolio-level market access, pricing, and reimbursement strategy across key markets, with a particular focus on the NMOSD indication. This is an opportunity for an experienced market access leader to influence critical launch and lifecycle decisions, navigate complex payer environments, and play a central role in advancing our ambition within Neurology

Alexion, AstraZeneca Rare Disease’s Global Value Access and Pricing (GVAP) team is seeking a qualified Director to join a dynamic and growing team, with responsibility for Neurology indications, including near-term new product launches and label expansions. 

As a key member of the GVAP team, you will help shape and execute global value, access, and pricing strategies across the Neurology portfolioin selected key EU markets, with particular strategic focus on the NMOSD indication and its lifecycle management 

This is a strategic role that leverages your understanding and application of global healthcare and health technology assessment (HTA) systems, competitive insights, and clinical knowledge to shape market access, pricing, and reimbursement success for critical product launches and indications. 

The ideal candidate for this role will have deep expertise in global payer, HTA, and reimbursement ecosystems, with a strong track record of driving market access, pricing, and reimbursement success within rare diseases and Neurology

You will be responsible for: 

Value

  • Lead and drive cross-functional development of a clear, differentiated value proposition for NMOSD, while influencing without authority and navigating complex organizational systems. 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that evidence generation plans and real-world evidence (RWE) are incorporated effectively to deliver a comprehensive value proposition, reduce uncertainty for payers, and optimize patient access. This includes securing timely country input on endpoints and evidence generation plans in priority target countries. 

  • Provide support to the GMMA Commercial team to advance NMOSD lifecycle management (LCM) through governance milestones focused on market access potential, evidence, and target product profile (TPP) requirements. 

Access

  • Lead development of global market access and pricing strategies-activities and support implementation in close partnership with country access representatives of assigned countries  

  • Lead the assessment of pricing and reimbursement (P&R) risks and opportunities, and the implementation of corresponding mitigation actions specific to Neurology

  • Create and roll out strategic value, access, and pricing communication tools and materials for NMOSD to support local P&R submissions and negotiations, such as pricing frameworks, negotiation strategies, and toolkits, in alignment with the enterprise-wide launch framework. 

  • Lead the update of the global reimbursement dossier for NMOSD and the overall cross-functional market access readiness plans for Neurology, in close collaboration with key countries and support functions (HEOR, Medical, and Commercial). 

  • Represent the GVAP perspective and strategy across various cross-functional teams, including the Global Value Sub-Team and Global Launch Team, and provide updates and guidance to local teams as needed. 

  • Own the monthly Neurology payer working group to share the latest evidence and drive best practice sharing across countries. 

  • Understand and incorporate the patient perspective on the disease, and recommend strategies that support the patient voice in key payer negotiations. 

Pricing

  • Support the development of the Neurology pricing strategy. 

  • Conduct payer and value assessments to identify key market-specific P&R drivers and barriers, develop differentiated value propositions, and inform evidence generation plans, regulatory strategy, and development decisions. 

  • For the top EU Neurology markets, lead and co-create market-level P&R strategies and support P&R submissions and negotiations to drive positive outcomes. 

  • Review P&R cases submitted by markets, and support markets in maintaining value while unlocking local access working in close partnership with country access representatives and /or access International shared markets GVAP team for relevant countries. 

  • Offer critical strategic input to inform access and pricing assumptions, enabling accurate, market-driven LTP assumptions. 

  • Communicate effectively with GMMA senior leadership and other key stakeholders, particularly in relation to Neurology launches and NMOSD LCM P&R strategy.

You will need to have:

  • Demonstrated leadership and the ability to take initiative and consistently deliver high-quality work in the context of rare diseases evidence, where there is greater uncertainty and competiiton. 

  • The ability to communicate effectively and translate science into compelling payer value story benefits for Alexion leadership and other identified stakeholders, including close collaboration with local market access colleagues and the Commercial Launch Excellence function. 

  • Experience developing evidence-based innovative value solutions, for example through working with local payers in the EU or commercial customers in the US. 

  • A relevant graduate degree, such as a PhD, PharmD, Biomedical Sciences, business, or economics qualification. 

  • Highly specialized rare disease and/or Neurology market access experience

  • More than 6 years of relevant drug development and/or commercialization experience within the pharmaceutical/medical industry.  

  • Knowledge of the needs and expectations of national and regional payers, insurers, and commercial customers in our strategic markets. Knowledge and experience in key cost-effectiveness markets, such as the UK, Canada and the Nordics, is preferred.
