Enterprise Process Lead – Global Trade Services

Introduction to the Role

Join AstraZeneca as anEnterprise Process Lead – Global Trade Services, where you'll play a pivotal role in establishing simplified, standardized, reliable, and scalable processes that enable prompt and compliant cross-border movement of products in our distribution network. By leading and driving the use of standard SAP S/4HANA functionality, you'll address current challenges and deliver future capabilities to support AstraZeneca's business growth.

In this influential role, you'll collaborate directly with stakeholders across multiple areas of the business to understand demands and challenges, updating our global process template when required. You'll focus on improving our ability to execute cross-border trading sustainably and cost-effectively while enhancing service to our customers. By adopting and developing technology to meet our needs and those of our customers, you'll collaborate across multiple process areas to deliver comprehensive solutions.

A significant element of the role involves managing the interim state during the migration to new processes, understanding current and future demands. Additionally, you'll be responsible for collaborating across the distribution process area, building, and leading a team of dedicated specialists to design and deliver new processes utilizing SAP Global Trade Services (GTS), connected third-party systems, and core S/4HANA development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead S/4HANA Activities: Manage sub-process design of SAP GTS in the cross-border movement of products and materials within the Enterprise Process area of Order & Distribution to Cash. Support interdependent process areas including Procurement and Material Management (P&MM) and the Tax workstream in Record to Report (R2R).
  • Team Leadership: Lead a team of 4-6 experts to localize and deploy globally standardized and repeatable processes, adopting standard use of S/4HANA and SAP GTS within the defined process area, minimizing local customization and deviations.
  • Process Improvement: Champion new strategies based on team findings to improve business processes and ensure business continuity, meeting current and future business requirements.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure process development enables AstraZeneca to meet all applicable regulatory standards (e.g., SHE, GxP, SOX, accounting GAAP).
  • Localization Workshops: Lead localization workshops throughout deployment, identifying and minimizing exceptions only where local business outcomes or legislative requirements necessitate.
  • Standardization Opportunities: Develop standardization and simplification opportunities across the process landscape.
  • Data Management: Identify data improvement requirements and develop data standardization and utilization to support sustainable and scalable processes.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Establish influential and highly collaborative relationships with key stakeholders, particularly with BAU GPO/BPO/LPC teams.
  • End-to-End Process Partnership: Work collaboratively across the end-to-end process to ensure a clear flow of data and that process hand-offs are known, identified, and interdependencies are understood and agreed upon.
  • Transition Artifacts: Create and sustain key artifacts required to develop a successful transition to the next-generation SAP ERP, including end-to-end process flows, roles, controls, and identification of key information model elements.
  • Data Collaboration: Collaborate with the data team to define data requirements for processes, analytics, and reporting.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Oversee and provide subject matter expert support to regional and global teams.
  • Compliance with Standards: Ensure that all improvement project work is carried out with regards to AstraZeneca standards and external regulations.
  • Networking: Network with colleagues across the business and experts to identify business improvement opportunities and future business requirements.
  • Continuous Learning: Keep self and others up-to-date on recent developments and emerging trends both internally and externally.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in an appropriate field.
  • Business Transformation: Demonstrable experience in business transformation and process improvement in designated process or sub-process areas.
  • SAP GTS Expertise: Demonstrable experience of global or large regional deployment and/or operation of SAP GTS within SAP ECC or S/4HANA.
  • Distribution Experience: Over 5 years of distribution operational experience at a global or multiple regional levels.
  • Logistics Experience: Over 5 years of operational experience in logistics or distribution planning and execution.
  • Stakeholder Management: Strong stakeholder management skills—work closely with IT, partner teams, and wider business stakeholders to understand requirements and communicate change.
  • Business Improvement Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of business improvement processes and local regulations.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication and presentation skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Agile Mindset: Agile approach with collaboration skills and continuous improvement at every stage to drive progress and maintain momentum.
  • Change Management: Good knowledge and understanding of change management principles and standards.
  • Influencing Ability: Effective communication and negotiating skills with the ability to influence others.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • SAP GTS Deployment: Over 5 years of operational and deployment experience with SAP GTS, including the design and deployment of process and system transformations.
  • Enterprise-Level Transformation: Extensive demonstrable experience in business transformation and process improvement in designated process or sub-process areas at the enterprise level.
  • Additional SAP Modules: Operational experience and knowledge of SAP Transportation Management, Logistics Business Network, Enterprise Warehouse Management.
  • Innovative Mindset: Confident in challenging the status quo, seeking out inefficiencies, and using initiative to make changes or suggest improvements while onboarding new ways of working that positively benefit our customers and operational colleagues.
  • Advocate for Change: A passionate advocate for long-term, strategic change from a customer-centric viewpoint.
  • Industry Expertise: Expert reputation within the business and industry with extensive knowledge of the latest technical and regulatory expectations.

  • Lean Six Sigma: Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or above.
