The US BioPharma Respiratory & Immunology (R&I) Team holds a unique leadership position in respiratory diseases such as asthma, COPD, and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). Our pipeline includes differentiated potential medicines, leveraging novel combinations, biologics, and devices. We also have promising assets in inflammatory and autoimmune conditions including psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, gout, systemic lupus, and rheumatoid arthritis.


As a Pharmaceutical Sales Specialist on the R&I Primary Care Team, you will play a pivotal role in bringing our scientific capabilities to life; making a positive, meaningful impact on patients every day. This territory generally covers Los Angeles City, Monterrey Park, Alhambra, Glendale and the surrounding areas.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop deep expertise in assigned products and disease states; effectively educate healthcare professionals on clinical evidence, approved uses, and safety/efficacy profiles to support appropriate on‑label prescribing.
  • Independently drive sales performance to meet or exceed territory goals, forecasts, and budget expectations.
  • Successfully complete all training requirements, including product certifications.
  • Build and maintain a strong understanding of market dynamics, demographics, and managed care considerations within your territory.
  • Partner closely with your District Sales Manager and Regional Sales Director to develop and execute a territory strategy and business plan that drives measurable growth.
  • Leverage formulary approvals and other opportunities by effectively using strategic targeting plans, promotional resources, and analytical tools—tailored to local customer needs.
  • Deliver educational programs to healthcare providers in alignment with AstraZeneca’s ethical guidelines.
  • Collaborate with fellow Pharmaceutical Sales Specialists to coordinate efforts around shared objectives.

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • 0–2 years of experience in the medical, healthcare, or pharmaceutical industry

Desirable Requirements

  • Knowledge of the medical, healthcare, or pharmacy industry; experience in Respiratory therapeutic areas is a plus
  • 2+ years of prior pharmaceutical sales experience
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities
  • Sound judgment and decision‑making skills
  • Results‑driven, with strong time‑management capabilities
  • Ability to learn, analyze, and communicate complex information

Compensation & Benefits

The annual base salary (or hourly rate of compensation) for this position ranges from $74,700-$140,700. However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.  In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility toparticipatein our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles) or to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coveragein accordance withthe terms and conditions of the applicable plans.Additionaldetails of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
