Director, Oncology Regional Account Team Lead

The Director, Oncology Regional Account leads a team of Associate Directors, Oncology Regional Accounts in a business-to-business role to advance AstraZeneca oncology business priorities including but not limited to new product/indication introduction and launch, portfolio and product value proposition communication, provider institution formulary product access achievement, appropriate account level oncology pathways and GPO contract pull-through.

This position is US based in Southern Region (West Virginia).

Summary

  • Reporting to the Senior Director, National Oncology Accounts, manages a team of Associate Director, Oncology Regional Accounts, within the region.
  • Provides leadership, coaching, performance development and day to day management of the ADORA team to execute on AstraZeneca account-level strategies at the enterprise level consistent with mutual business objectives.
  • Closely collaborates with the National Oncology Account Director team members, and cross functional team leaders within the geography to ensure effective account plan implementation and KPI monitoring.
  • Demonstrated business expertise and leadership within the role, with the ability to proactively problem solve and act as a market access expert, sharing strategic insights into the organization.
  • Providers leadership for the ADORA team for GPO contract pull through and sharing insights up through team to support contract strategy and execution.
  • Assists the Senior Director on national and regional planning which may include chairing meetings, acting as voice of ADORA team with internal teams, supporting state society and regional meeting budgets and analytic reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee ADORA team efforts in securing product access in assigned accounts (health systems, community oncology accounts), aligned to oncology market access strategies and priorities.
  • Oversee implementation of customer engagement efforts in Community Oncology channel (value messaging and contract pull through).
  • Enable and assist with ADORA with Oncology leadership within accounts to collaborate cross functionally on account planning and execution, including innovation projects, project plans and associated metrics.
  • Lead the application of the account management principle of AZ cross functional collaboration, coordination and communication through the strategic account planning and associated implementation efforts. Implementation of account planning process within local markets.
  • Oversee training and development of existing and new ADORA team in role, including coaching and development based on direct and indirect observation of performance.
  • Embraces, coaches and role model an ethical, diverse and inclusive mindset while recruiting, hiring, and developing a high performing team with a culture of inclusion.
  • Develops business to business relationships with targeted Oncology executive level customers as appropriate to support the business and the ADORA team.
  • Prioritizes account projects/initiatives that address changing customer and market requirements; presents business case for opportunity evaluation, including a broad view of the entire account impact and regional impact.
  • Develop ADORA quarterly priorities working closely and aligning to NOAT SD priority creation?
  • Oversight and understanding of AZ oncology portfolio and competitive landscape?
  • Assist NOAT leadership on understanding, executing and management of the oversight of State Societies where ADORASs have ownership in the geo.?

Other Key Responsibilities

  • Assists the Senior Director in region business efforts and acts in a support capacity for meetings, budgets, meetings and convention attendance and engagement with the internal teams.
  • Works closely with the SD on alignment of the broader NOAT team to execute priorities and job requirements effectively. 
  • Support budget management requirements.
  • Inform the organization as to changing landscape and necessary tool development to ensure minimization of potential future access barriers.
  • Based on customer needs, identify, and prioritize related evidence gaps and formulate and integrate RWE messaging into functional assets.
  • Contribute to GPO platform and capabilities including contracting, and customer engagement efforts in Community Oncology to outperform in this channel.
  • Provides customer insight and serves in an advisory capacity to Senior Director, Oncology Market Access Strategy and Marketing teams (FIT).
  • Influence and gain cross-functional partner alignment through collaboration with the OBU
  • Work closely with SD and training department to align on annual training plan to upskill the ADORA team

Qualifications & Skills

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 10+ years pharma and/or other healthcare related experience
  • 5+ years Oncology experience with in-depth understanding of business and operational aspects of health systems.
  • 5 +years Market Access Related Experience(B2B) with a strong record of performance.
  • 2- years Prior experience leading teams in market access
  • Project Management Experience
  • Contracting experience (payer/ and or GPO or Direct institution)
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with and influence peers and management.
  • Demonstrated communication and platform skills.
  • Demonstrated results orientation.
  • Demonstrated strategic planning capabilities and project management.
  • Demonstrates the ability to effectively communicate, collaborate and coordinate in a matrix organization.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and situational leadership.
  • Understanding of financial concepts and contracting
  • Prior experience in a pharma commercial function

Desirable:

  • MBA or advanced degree
  • Demonstrated negotiating capability.
  • Demonstrated fluency in Oncology clinical science including fluency in translating clinical outcomes and health economic data into customer value.
  • Experience in mentoring and developing others within the organization.
  • Prior experience in leading teams such as in sales management or general management
  • Prior experience as a pharmacy, medical, or quality director at a healthcare institution
