Director, Biostatistics

Accountabilities:
SHE Stewardship: Work according to agreed functional and regional SHE strategy by ensuring accurate management of SHE risks, incidents, reporting, follow-up and improvements.
Statistical Design and Strategy: Lead the statistical design and strategy to product development plans, preclinical studies, regulatory strategy, health technology assessment and/or commercial activities as appropriate for the stage of the product.
Study Excellence and Submissions: Lead the statistical content and ensure quality for study designs, documents, delivery and interpretation and submission.
Benefit–Risk and Uncertainty: Quantify the benefit, risk, value and uncertainty of the emerging product profile and communicate these effectively within the team.
Global Leadership and Delivery: Provide global leadership to others and direct project work delivered by internal and external staff; partner with CROs to ensure delivery to quality and time.
External Representation: Represent AZ externally which may include health authorities, advisory boards, conferences, workshops and/or payer interactions.
Methodology Innovation: Maintain knowledge of statistical methodology in relevant areas and promote, investigate and implement novel statistical approaches.
Governance and Decision Making: Represent statistical strategy and decision making at internal decision-making governance including review boards, therapy area leadership teams and ESPC/LSPC.
Talent Development: Mentor/coach and support the technical education and training of Statistics staff.
Essential Skills/Experience:
MSc/PhD in Statistics, Mathematics (containing a substantial statistical component), or recognized equivalent to stats MSc
In-depth knowledge of technical/regulatory requirements with experience in pharm/healthcare
Up to date and implements novel stats approaches
Experience with and broad awareness of regulatory interactions and/or submissions
Excellent communication skills/ build strong relationships
Nationally recognized externally. Encouraged to attend or speak at seminars and external meetings. Well-rounded statistician with publications on a range of topic areas. Publications resulting from external collaborations
Guide Leadership role able to lead/direct work across a team
Track record leading statistical strategy across multiple indications, including sophisticated oncology programs
Deep expertise in adaptive, Bayesian, and model-based build methods for late-stage and lifecycle evidence generation
Experience crafting health technology assessment strategy and payer evidence, including endpoints, estimands, and comparative efficiency
Strong proficiency with modern statistical computing environments and programming languages, and oversight of production-quality deliverables from CROs
Success building high-performing, diverse teams across geographies and integrating external collaborations with academia and consortia

The annual base pay for this position ranges from $188279 to $288,419. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
