As an Access Contracting Director (ACD) within Market Access, you’ll play a pivotal role in channeling our scientific capabilities to make a positive impact on changing patients’ lives. Main Duties and Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for the execution of approved access programs for important therapies within the AstraZeneca biopharmaceuticals portfolio, including products in Respiratory & Immunology Biologics. Execution of role includes management of approved discounts, volume-based rebates, ordering process and supported services.
- Demonstrates leadership. Provides inspirational leadership to others, appropriately influences senior leaders and holds others accountable. Account directors will build strong relationships with key business decision makers while appropriately partnering with other field roles (Sales Leadership, FRM Directors, other Market Access functions, brand marketing)
- Developing and maintaining customer relationships. This includes identifying and utilizing internal resources to meet customer needs as well as serving as a conduit to the broader organization for business partnerships. ACD will also be responsible for communicating details of AstraZeneca access programs, customer agreement performance and changes to programs as appropriate.
- Assisting in the development of long-term strategies that support AstraZeneca and the brand objectives. The ACD will be in a position to understand practice management trends, developments and system priorities by developing and maintaining strategic relationships with key buy & bill practices. This should allow the ACD to advise and help develop long-term partnerships on behalf of AstraZeneca.
- Maintaining effective, on-going communication within respective market. Individuals in this position are expected to initiate and maintain an effective, two-way communication with internal sales teams, Managed Markets personnel, Field Reimbursement personnel, and other cross-functional counterparts as appropriate.
- Tracking market intelligence that may positively or adversely affect marketing practices and business. This includes constantly monitoring the competitive environment (e.g., new product entrants) and/or any healthcare policy changes/initiatives, which may impact market position. These insights will help inform commercial and assess strategies and approaches.
- Maintaining specific account records that pertain to interests. ACDs are expected to develop, maintain, and consistently update a comprehensive customer database as specified in the AZ CRM platform. Additionally, complete reports and maintain records as per AstraZeneca policies.
- Responsible for maintaining a high degree of honesty, integrity, diplomacy, and ethical behavior within the business unit. Serve as a role model for compliance to other members of the business unit team.
Contracting:
Account directors will be required to have a strong business acumen and the ability to execute fiscally responsible product contracts with targeted customers supporting company goals and creating access for patients.
In addition to the above-mentioned skill sets, this position will require account-based management, business acumen, problem solving, diplomacy, managerial courage, organizational agility, and excellent communication skills.
Essential Requirements:
- Experience in multiple commercial and/or Market Access roles
- Ability to influence without authority and has experience working across a number of different areas within the organization
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a scientific/medical or business discipline or relevant experience is required.
- Extensive experience operating in Buy & Bill business in the Specialty Pharmaceutical or Biotechnology industry
- 8+ years of total business experience in the healthcare or pharmaceutical/biotech industry.
- Expertise in Management by Objective development and implementation.
- Demonstrated performance success to Brand expectations
- Strong written, oral and presentation skills
- Experience with business planning and market analysis.
- Demonstrated project management and strong account management skills
- Ability to learn, analyze, understand and convey complex information
- Travel is required. Individual must live within territory (Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, West Virginia) or within 50 miles of territory boundary
Desirable Requirements:
- Experience leading people, coaching, and driving performance through others
- Experience with complex dynamics of biologic distribution and acquisition at both inpatient and outpatient level is strongly preferred.
- Experience with executing product contracting agreements with customers.
- Recent Experience in Respiratory/Rheumatology Biologics preferred
- Experience in implementing biologic buy & bill practice level programs and support at account level.
- Master’s degree in scientific/medical or business discipline
