Hybrid Model: 3 days per week from office

We are recruiting a Transfer Pricing (TP) Manager to join the GFS TP team, supporting the broader AstraZeneca Global Transfer Pricing Policy & Strategy Team within Group Tax. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to ensure AstraZeneca meets its TP compliance requirements as a member of a world-class global transfer pricing team.

The role will report to the Group Tax TP Associate Director and have a dotted line to the GFS OTP Associate Director located in GFS EMEA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Global Oversight: Manage transfer pricing processes globally, with direct line management responsibilities.
  • Documentation and Compliance: Ensure delivery of approximately 100 local transfer pricing files annually, maintaining alignment with Group Tax’s expectations.
  • Knowledge Application: Utilize understanding of local market conditions and AstraZeneca’s transfer pricing policies to oversee the preparation of robust, supportable documentation.
  • Review and Analysis: Examine local files prepared by GFS TP Analysts and external providers, addressing complex issues and aligning approaches with the Global Transfer Pricing Policy & Strategy Team within Group Tax.
  • Reporting: Deliver reports to the Group Tax TP Associate Director, highlighting key issues for discussion and ensuring final versions, produced with appendices and attachments, communicated on time to stakeholders.
  • TP local file execution -  Ability to operate a global TP documentation project globally across all marketing company processes and have the Transfer Pricing and AZ knowledge to perform for each market in scope
  • Segmented P&L understanding– Understand the structure of the AZ P&L for each market and how it interacts with the AZ processes.
  • Training and Documentation – Responsible for ensuring documentation in place for marketing company process for the markets in scope of the region

Role includes:

  • Supervise 2 GFS Transfer Pricing Analysts
  • Review, collect, cumulate and interpret information from local financial controllers and ensure high quality working papers according to internal standards
  • Review and compile annual transfer pricing documentation local files in accordance with best practice within the OECD Transfer Pricing Guidelines and adapting for local regulations as applicable
  • Review and advise on economic analysis of TP results in local markets as aligned to TP policies

Work collaboratively with

  • Group Tax TP Associate Director, who is overall accountable for the local file process in AZ, and other members of the Global Transfer Pricing Policy & Strategy Team.
  • Market controllers, OTP Team, and Group Treasury and others as required

Specific activities and relationships:

  • Working with the Group Tax TP Associate Director to define the annual calendar
  • Communicating with market controllers and GFS analysts to ensure the local file is prepared accurately
  • Working with Group Tax to review local market transfer price documentation requirements
  • Facilitating discussions between Group Tax and market controllers
  • Following up with controllers and CFOs to achieve signed off positions

Education, Qualifications, and Experience

Essential:

  • Proven experience of a similar role in transfer pricing - at least 2- 3 years 
  • Strong engagement, communication and stakeholder management skills, including excellent presentation and influencing skills
  • Team leadership skills 
  • Experience of virtual collaboration to lead, shape and deliver results 

Desirable:

  • Experience of working in a global organisation with complex/geographical context;
  • Pharmaceutical business awareness/business domain knowledge;
  • Transfer pricing execution.
