Location: Warsaw
Hybrid Model: minimum 3 days from the office in Warsaw per week
Global Finance Services (GFS) is at the heart of the AZ Finance function. We are accountable to the AZ Group for the design and delivery of high quality, simple to operate transactional finance processes which combined with exceptional business analysis and insight, enable our customers to focus on AZ’s strategic priorities.
At this specific position you will deal with royalties (licence) agreements, that AZ signed with external parties (usually other pharma companies). You will be responsible for their correct register in ERP system and execution from 3rd parties. The role provides global exposure, as the deals are signed worldwide and registered at corporate level
Scope of responsibilities:
Third Party Contract Support:
- Review and interpretation of financial clauses in signed contracts e.g. trigger of royalty thresholds, analysing and applying different sales definitions, trigger of commercial milestones, etc.,
- Generate detailed royalty statements in compliance with contractual terms,
- Review royalty statements from 3rd parties and flag any inconsistencies with the contracts,
- Address and resolve any disputes or discrepancies related to royalty calculations or payments,
- Collaborate with legal teams or relevant parties when necessary,
- Ensure that all royalty processes adhere to contractual agreements and legal requirements,
- Participate in audit.
Payments, Receipts & Underlying Accounting:
- Ensure payments/receipts are complete & made on time according to the contract,
- Liaise with the relevant finance teams on queries & to ensure postings in underlying accounts are correct,
- Ensure that accruals reflect the contract activity,
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations & other financial controls,
- Utilize the existing systems to analyse sales and revenue data, identifying trends and anomalies to ensure risks are mitigated and errors prevented,
- Predict future royalty income and expense based on historical data to help the manual accruals process.
Finance Partnering & Improvements:
Work across multiple areas of AZ Finance to improve processes, controls & education e.g., GPPS (Global Products & Portfolio Strategy) Finance, GFO, Treasury & Banking Team,
Continuously evaluate and improve the royalties reporting and payment/invoicing process for efficiency and accuracy with regulatory, governance, and internal processes related to M&A transactions.
Requirements:
Essential:
- Qualified finance professional with a degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent qualification such as CIMA or ACCA,
- At least 5 years of R2R/GL/Controlling experience in a global organization,
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with proficiency in SAP, Excel,
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a capability to collaborate across teams and manage senior stakeholder relationships,
- Fluent in English (both written and verbal),
- Demonstrated ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects effectively.
Desirable
- Experience within the pharmaceutical industry or similar innovations-driven sectors,
- Familiarity with contractual agreements, licensing, and intellectual property rights.
