Portfolio Manager – Clinical Manufacturing & Supply

Location - Warsaw

At AstraZeneca, we are united by a shared mission to deliver life-changing medicines to patients. Within Clinical Manufacturing & Supply (CM&S), we are responsible for the manufacture, sourcing, and supply of investigational medicines across a diverse global clinical portfolio. We are now looking for a Portfolio Manager to play a central role in helping us understand and shape demand, align portfolio priorities with capacity, and generate the insights that support confident decision-making across CM&S and our wider development partners. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys combining strategic thinking, data-driven planning, stakeholder engagement, and continuous improvement to make a real impact across the portfolio.

What you’ll do

  • Lead portfolio and capacity management activities for an aligned Therapy Area or defined business scope within CM&S.

  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to translate portfolio demand into clear resource and capacity insights that support prioritisation and delivery decisions.

  • Represent CM&S in portfolio and governance forums, ensuring supply implications, constraints, risks, and opportunities are clearly understood.

  • Generate high-quality portfolio analysis, decision support, and reporting for senior leaders across CM&S and PT&D.

  • Drive continuous improvement in portfolio planning, demand management, and data quality, including simplification, standardisation, and automation of planning processes.

  • Support the development and enhancement of planning tools, reporting approaches, and portfolio ways of working to improve transparency and decision-making.

  • Use data, judgement, and business understanding to challenge assumptions, improve forecast quality, and strengthen planning confidence over time.

  • Contribute to key business planning cycles, including long-range planning, mid-term planning, budgeting, and portfolio reviews.

  • Act as a trusted partner to functional leaders, helping shape discussions on priorities, trade-offs, and portfolio implications.

Why this role matters

This role sits at the heart of how CM&S plans and delivers across a complex clinical portfolio. You will help ensure that the right conversations happen at the right time, supported by clear data, thoughtful analysis, and practical recommendations. Beyond day-to-day portfolio management, this role also contributes to shaping better planning processes, stronger governance, and more effective cross-functional decision-making. It is well suited to someone who is comfortable working across detail and strategy, and who is motivated by improving how the organisation plans, prioritises, and delivers.

Essential for the role

  • Strong experience in portfolio management, project management, resource planning, or a related discipline within a complex matrix environment.

  • Experience working with demand and capacity planning, portfolio analysis, or business planning processes.

  • Ability to analyse complex information and translate it into clear, decision-ready insights for senior stakeholders.

  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the confidence to work across functions and governance forums.

  • Experience using planning systems, data tools, and reporting or visualisation approaches to support business decisions.

  • A continuous improvement mindset, with experience improving processes, ways of working, or planning approaches.

  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to prepare and present clear, concise materials for leadership audiences.

Desirable for the role

  • Experience in clinical supply, pharmaceutical development, or another life sciences portfolio environment.

  • Knowledge of portfolio governance, resource councils, or cross-functional planning processes.

  • Experience supporting digital, automation, or systems improvement initiatives related to planning or portfolio management.

  • Experience working with tools such as PLANIT, Power BI, Excel-based planning models, or similar portfolio and reporting systems.

  • Experience leading cross-functional improvement activity, coaching others, or acting as a recognised point of contact for planning and governance.
