Data Engineer
Role Overview:
The Data Strategy Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing data solutions for commercial data (Enpire, Veeva, ZP, IQVIA) that support the company's data strategy, ensuring high quality, trusted, and accessible data for analytics and business needs. This involves collaborating across IT, analytics, and business teams to build scalable systems aligned with the organization's strategic direction.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Architecture Design:
Architect scalable, secure, and robust data platforms and pipelines aligned with business strategy and goals. - Implementation & Optimization:
Develop, test, and enhance data integration workflows using ETL/ELT processes in cloud or on-premise environments. - Collaboration with Stakeholders:
Partner with analytics, business, and IT teams to gather requirements and translate them into robust data solutions. Support commercial teams by enabling and optimizing data pipelines for evolving dashboard needs, ensuring timely, high-quality, and trustworthy data for business decision-making. - Data Governance & Quality:
Implement data quality, lineage, and governance frameworks to ensure compliance and reliability of data assets. - Operational Excellence:
Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize the performance of data systems, advocating for best practices and standardization. - Change Management:
Implement data strategy initiatives, including stakeholder engagement, impact assessment, communications, user training, and support. Proactively identify adoption risks and develop mitigation strategies to facilitate smooth transitions and maximize user acceptance. - Performance Measurement: Define and monitor key data-related metrics to demonstrate progress and impact against strategic objectives.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Education:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or related field. - Technical Expertise:
Proficient in programming languages (such as Python, Java, or Scala), data modeling, and databases (SQL, NoSQL). - ETL/ELT Development:
Hands-on experience designing and developing ETL/ELT processes and workflow orchestration. - Data Governance:
Understanding of data security, privacy, lineage, and compliance frameworks. - Problem-Solving:
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with attention to detail. - Communication:
Ability to communicate technically complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders, and document designs and processes clearly.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with data strategy initiatives or enterprise data transformation projects
- Understanding of pharma data (IQVIA, ZP infrared)
