Medical Scientific Advisor for Respiratory & Immunology (COPD) in Stockholm – Nordic Marketing Company

We are seeking a Medical Scientific Advisor (MSA) for our Respiratory & Immunology (COPD) team in Sweden. This field-based position offers the opportunity to lead medical strategy for pre-launch and launch activities, collaborate with external stakeholders, and drive scientific leadership in COPD. The MSA will report to the Therapeutic Area Lead (TAL) Sweden and work closely with cross-functional teams within AstraZeneca to shape strategic initiatives that improve patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Medical and Scientific Engagement
External Stakeholder Interaction: Develop and maintain relationships with Key External Experts (KEEs), healthcare professionals (HCPs), and medical organizations to enhance scientific exchange and gather insights.
Implement plans aligned with the medical strategy and lead scientific discussions in advisory boards, meetings, and educational programs.
Respond to unsolicited medical information requests about AZ assets.
Pre-Launch and Launch Support
Pre-Launch Strategy: Lead scientific efforts to prepare for new product introductions by identifying unmet medical needs and contributing to product strategies.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the launch strategy is informed by scientific data and external stakeholder insights.
Launch Activities: Execute medical activity plans, ensure alignment with healthcare practices, and support treatments to reach eligible patients after approval.
Therapeutic Area Leadership & Transforming Care
COPD Expertise: Serve as the subject matter expert in COPD, identifying clinical trends, evidence gaps, and unmet needs in the disease area.
Lead initiatives to transform care for COPD patients by leveraging insights into clinical practices and treatment pathways.
Transforming Care Strategy: Co-lead programs that strive to deliver value to patients, healthcare systems, and AstraZeneca by integrating innovative strategies into clinical practice.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Internal Collaboration: Work closely with Medical Affairs, SM&M, Clinical Development, Market Access, Commercial and Regulatory Affairs to provide scientific input into product development, regulatory strategies, and market access plans.
Provide feedback on clinical trial design, feasibility, and site engagement to optimize recruitment and retention in COPD trials.
Externally Sponsored Research (ESR) & Innovation
Support ESR and Open Innovation programs by identifying collaborative opportunities to generate real-world evidence and clinical insights that advance the scientific understanding of COPD.
Qualifications & Experience
Education: Advanced degree (MD, PhD, MSc) in a relevant scientific or medical field. Experience in respiratory medicine, internal medicine or immunology is highly desirable.
Experience:
Proven experience in medical affairs or clinical research, with a focus on respiratory diseases and COPD experience is preferred.
Experience in leading scientific communications, developing relationships with external experts, and executing pre-launch and launch activities.
Skills:
Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex scientific data clearly and effectively to both internal and external stakeholders.
Strong collaboration and cross-functional teamwork abilities.
Knowledge of regulatory and medical affairs processes, including the drug development lifecycle.
Ability to support team development.
