Senior Procurement Specialist
Responsible for the implementation of strategic procurement activities as well as undertaking local operational procurement accountabilities within a business unit or site. Provides support to the Category Partners and strategic buying
groups to ensure successful implementation of strategic sourcing decisions, e.g. provides local contact to customers, liaises with suppliers, ensures expectations are being met. Where sourcing and contracting accountabilities have been delegated, takes full accountability for successful implementation of contracts and ongoing contracts and relationship management relating to these.
You will report to the Senior Director, Global Research Procurement. This position will be located in Santa Monica, CA.
You Will:
Contributes to procurement plans and projects and makes decisions necessary to purchase products and services in
congruence with organizational objectives and category and sourcing strategies.
Conducts commercial review of procurement requisitions and Statements of Work in accordance with business.
requirements and budgets, including cost benefit analysis on planned acquisitions, specifications, performance terms,
and/or acceptance criteria and contracts.
Researches and assists in the selection of potential sources of materials and/or services, including building relationships
with suppliers to maintain and develop recommended sources, evaluate suppliers and measure supplier performance
Contributes to the preparation of competitive bids, quotations and proposals with pertinent specifications, terms and
conditions.
Plays a supporting role in the evaluation of competitive offerings to determine the overall best offer for a product or
service. Assists in analyzing proposals in support of the bid evaluation process.
Through delegation, supports the Category Lead and/or Strategic Buying Team to undertake sourcing, develop contracts and agreements and resolve contract issues for the supply of standard products using AZ templates and approaches.
Liaises with user departments and suppliers to ensure product availability, expedite delivery, resolve payment problems and review product pricing information.
Undertakes internal and external analysis to assist with internal forecasting and inform supply market sourcing decisions.
Undertakes administration (e.g. contract database maintenance, equipment records and / or specifications).
Maintains a cost reduction, cost avoidance, cost containment program and reports it via the value database.
Complies with all regulatory and AZ requirements relevant to the role, e.g. Sarbanes Oxley, Code of Conduct, Financial Control Framework.
You Have:
5+ years of supply chain, procurement, or related experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry with a Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, engineering, or similar fields.
3+ years of supply chain, procurement, or related experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry with a Master’s degree in supply chain, business, engineering, or similar field.
Experience with enterprise systems such as Oracle NetSuite or similar.
Experience performing advanced data analysis using Microsoft Excel.
Can work independently and under general direction to accomplish objectives.
Can act as a primary contact on projects or business processes.
Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills.
Exceptional organization and project management skills.
Comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic, and highly fluid company environment and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities.
The annual base salary for this position ranges from $86,670.40 to $130,005.60. However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles).
