Director, HR Site Lead
Position Summary:
As HR Site Lead, you'll be a trusted strategic partner to leadership across Santa Monica, Tarzana, and South San Francisco; drive key initiatives in talent acquisition, employee relations, retention, performance management, and leadership development to ensure alignment with site operations and overall enterprise strategy. You will report to the Site General Manager, Cell Therapy Clinical Manufacturing.
Responsibilities
- People Strategy & Site Leadership
- Manage the people strategy for the Santa Monica/Tarzana site, aligned with Site and Operations strategy, including strategic workforce planning, talent initiatives, and employee engagement efforts that drive organizational growth.
- Demonstrate shared accountability for overall site performance and outcomes as an active member of the Santa Monica/Tarzana site leadership team.
- Partner with the Santa Monica/Tarzana General Manager to develop and elevate the site leadership team through coaching, team effectiveness strategies, and leadership capability building.
- Participate as a member of leadership teams in shaping department strategies, addressing challenges, and ensuring alignment of people initiatives with broader organizational objectives.
- HR Strategy & Advisory
- Provide strategic counsel to leaders on HR policies, complex employee matters, organizational effectiveness, and proactive issue resolution.
- Partner with hiring managers in developing recruitment and sourcing strategies; assist in candidate selection and offer processes.
- Support the Learning and Development strategy to ensure individuals and the organization have the skills and knowledge needed for success.
- Educate and advise management on the application of AstraZeneca's Compensation philosophy and programs.
- Educate and support management in the successful implementation of AstraZeneca's performance management policies and programs.
- Identify talent and organizational trends; collaborate with HR colleagues and business leaders to deliver data-informed solutions that improve retention, performance, and employee experience.
- Employee Relations & HR Programs
- Provide leadership in employee relations issues; work with managers and employees to identify and address performance-related issues.
- Mentor and support managers on corrective actions and sensitive employee situations.
- Promote consistent policy application and serve as a trusted advisor in navigating complex employee matters.
- Deliver high-impact HR programs and services tailored to business needs.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree
- 10+ years' experience as an HR Generalist with a background in core HR functions
- Experience supporting senior leaders with HR strategy and daily guidance
- Ability to work through conflicts and influence outcomes
- Comfortable leading through change and ambiguity; brings others along with clarity and confidence
- Trusted, honest, and respectful; seen as a partner across all levels
- Strong relationship-building skills; able to gain respect and trust of business clients
- Able to resolve sensitive concerns diplomatically
- Knowledge of employee relations principles, practices, methods, and programs
- Project management experience and collaboration orientation
Desired Qualifications
- Master's Degree
- HR certification
- Pharmaceutical experience
- Manufacturing or GMP experience
The annual base salary for this position ranges from $162,682.40 - $244,023.60. However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles).
