Project Manager - GBS Process Transformation Office
About the role :
AstraZeneca’s Global Business Services (GBS) is evolving from a traditional cost-efficiency engine into an enterprise value creation platform, powered by AI agents, intelligent automation, and data-driven decision-making.
As Project Manager in the GBS Transformation Office, you will play a central role in turning transformation ambition into delivered outcomes. Based in Lisbon, you will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of transformation initiatives within the GBS Transformation Factory, ensuring programmes are delivered to time, quality, and value.
This is a hands-on delivery leadership role. You will coordinate multi-disciplinary Agile squads, manage dependencies and risks, and maintain the delivery rhythm needed to help GBS realise value quickly, learn continuously, and scale what works.
What you’ll do
In this role, you will lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of transformation initiatives from initiation through deployment and value realisation. You will create and maintain robust delivery plans, managing scope, milestones, resources, risks, and interdependencies across multiple workstreams.
You will work closely with AI engineers, process analysts, data scientists, and change managers to deliver initiatives in rapid, time-boxed increments. You will also be accountable for team capacity, project resourcing, and budget oversight for assigned initiatives.
A core part of the role is ensuring strong governance without slowing momentum. You will track progress through Evaluation-Driven Development (EDD) gates, ensuring every agent, assistant, or automation meets agreed evaluation criteria before production deployment. You will provide transparent reporting on delivery status, risks, blockers, and value realised, while escalating and resolving issues across Technology, Data & AI, and GBS Operations.
You will also help shape a culture of continuous improvement by tracking value across speed, quality, experience, and productivity, surfacing underperforming initiatives early, and contributing to reusable delivery assets, templates, and ways of working that accelerate future programmes.
Essential requirements
Proven experience in project or delivery management within transformation, automation, or technology delivery environments
Strong knowledge of Agile delivery methodologies and tools, with experience managing multiple workstreams in time-boxed increments
Demonstrated success coordinating cross-functional, multi-disciplinary teams
Experience with people and budget accountability, including team capacity planning, resourcing, and spend management
Strong risk, dependency, and stakeholder management capability
Ability to translate delivery progress into clear value and KPI reporting
Excellent organisational, planning, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across cultures and geographies
Confidence operating in a fast-paced, dynamic, and ambiguous transformation environment
Fluent English, written and spoken
Desirable requirements
Experience delivering AI, automation, RPA, or digital transformation initiatives
Agile certification such as Scrum, SAFe, or equivalent
Lean Six Sigma awareness, ideally Yellow or Green Belt
Experience in pharmaceutical, life sciences, or GBS / Shared Services environments
Familiarity with process mining or automation platforms such as Celonis, UiPath, or similar
