GCS Service Design – Business Case Manager
Introduction to role:

As the Business Case Manager for Service Design, you will lead the investment narrative and governance that powers enterprise transformation. Your work will translate strategy into funded, sequenced initiatives that improve how we deliver medicines and operate sustainably.
You will partner with internal customers, GBS Finance, PMO, and design leaders to set shared objectives, build business cases for new shared services, shape benefits logic, and secure sign-offs that unlock value. This role sits at the intersection of service design, portfolio management, and executive governance, creating visibility and clarity across a dynamic pipeline.
Accountabilities:
Portfolio Objectives and Funding Strategy: Set shared objectives, sizing, phasing, and funding paths; own governance and approvals to enable confident, timely decisions.
Business Case Architecture: Craft the business case narrative, benefits logic, and sensitivity analyses; secure Finance/CFO sign-offs to move initiatives from concept to investment.
Financial Modeling and Transparency: Own financial modeling, version updates, benefits tracking, and PMO/status dashboard reporting to maintain accurate, current information for stakeholders.
Assumption Alignment with Service Design: Align business case assumptions with Service Design options, pilot hypotheses, KPIs, and rollout plans to ensure measurable outcomes.
Internal Consulting and Governance Rigor: Act as an internal consultant to improve case quality, governance discipline, and investment transparency across the portfolio.
Ongoing Efficiency & AI Integration: Identify opportunities to drive efficiencies in existing/future workflows using AI and implementing process improvements for the betterment of the wider Service Design team.
Essential Skills/Experience:
Proven experience setting shared objectives, sizing, phasing, and funding paths, including ownership of governance and approvals.
Expertise in architecting business case narratives, benefits logic, and sensitivity analyses, with a strong track record of securing Finance/CFO sign-offs.
Advanced capability in financial modeling, managing version updates, tracking benefits, and delivering PMO/status dashboard reporting.
Demonstrated ability to align business case assumptions with Service Design options, pilot hypotheses, KPIs, and rollout plans.
Strong internal consulting approach focused on elevating case quality, governance rigor, and investment transparency.
Desirable Skills/Experience:
Background in service design, shared services, or enterprise transformation.
Experience in biopharma or other highly regulated, data-rich industries.
Advanced degree or credential in finance, economics, or business (e.g., MBA, CFA).
Proficiency with financial modeling and visualization tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI) and scenario planning techniques.
Executive stakeholder engagement skills, including translating complex financials for non-financial audiences.
Familiarity with portfolio management frameworks and PMO standards.
Strength in data storytelling, benefits realization, and continuous improvement (e.g., Lean Six Sigma).
Experience piloting and scaling new operating models across multiple regions or functions.
