Automation Engineer
Are you ready to take on the challenge of crafting the future of automation in a multifaceted environment? As an Automation Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of technological advancements, providing technical mentorship and support for equipment at our Philadelphia and Bensalem sites. You'll play a pivotal role in the procurement of new equipment, leading projects and collaborating with IT, operations, facilities, and maintenance teams to implement changes.
This is a 2nd shift position, working Monday to Friday from 2pm to 10pm.
Scope of Responsibilities:
- Support the selection, design, and implementation of new/replacement systems for processes, equipment, and automated systems.
- Resolve technical issues by identifying root causes and defining corrective/preventive actions.
- Lead change controls associated with equipment and automated systems.
- Build/update operation and maintenance documentation and training materials for equipment and automated systems.
- Lead user access program for production and facilities equipment.
- Act as System Administrator for production and facilities equipment, handling user access, performing audit trail reviews, and completing essential PMs.
- Lead and complete Data Integrity Risk Assessments (DIRAs) for equipment.
Projects/Activities:
- Efficiently manage assigned projects and initiatives.
- Assist engineering, operations, and maintenance on complicated projects/initiatives.
- Manage internal and external resources for assigned projects/initiatives.
- Contribute to functional, cross-functional, and departmental development and Lean initiatives.
Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of automated control systems such as Allen Bradley & Siemens, and industrial automation.
- Proven experience with automation tools (e.g., PLC, SCADA, HMI).
- Understanding of engineering drawings, SOPs, vendor documentation, and other technical documentation.
- Understanding of Lean concepts and waste reduction.
- Support 24X7 operations as on-call support.
Essential Skills/Experience:
- BA/BS Engineering/Life Sciences
- 0 to 5+ years applicable experience in manufacturing
- Working understanding of electronic theory and its application
- Understanding of instrumentation and control loops
- Ability to solve one or more of the following:
- PLC systems, particularly Rockwell Automation (Allen Bradley)
- Distributed control systems, particularly Rockwell Automation Control network
- Building management systems, particularly Siemens Building Automation
- VFD and motor control systems
- IT infrastructure
- Understanding of programming concepts
- Understanding of risk assessment and mitigation
- Understanding of data analytics
- Understanding of GAMP and GAMP categories (Risk scoring of software)
- Understanding of validation principles
- Proficiency in investigation and problem solving
