Order to Cash Transformation & Automation Manager

AstraZeneca is undertaking a multi‑year transformation of its global Order to Cash (O2C) and Banking processes to drive scalability, automation, and an outstanding customer and cash experience.

The O2C Transformation & AutomationManager will act as a global functional design authority for O2C and Banking process and system changes, reporting directly to the Associate DirectorO2C & Banking (Design).

The role will manage end‑to‑end process and solution design decisions ensuring that all changes are scalable, controlled, and aligned to the global target operating model.

Execution and build activities are typically delivered by IT, system integrators, and service partners, with this role providing direction, challenge, formal design approval and if required delivery support.

This is a design‑oriented change role requiring deep functional credibility, strong system understanding across SAP (ECC and S/4 Hana), HighRadius, Esker, and the ability to influence across a complex global matrix.

Key Accountabilities

1. Global O2C Design Authority

  • Ensure the global end‑to‑end O2C process designs, policies and standards, balance efficiency, control, and the customer experience.

  • Assess, approve, or reject proposed process or system changes to ensure alignment with the global design and transformation roadmap.

  • Maintain clear documentation of design principles, process models, and solution architectures.

  • Translate high‑level transformation objectives into clear roadmaps, milestones, and tangible business outcomes (cash acceleration, cycle‑time reduction, service quality, control improvements).

  • Act as a thought partner to the Associate Director O2C & Banking (Design), shaping priorities and sequencing initiatives in line with overall finance transformation goals.

  • Partner with IT, GFS, BPO (Genpact), and system integrators to:

  • Ensure delivery adheres to approved designs.

  • Resolve design‑level issues and escalations.

  • Prevent solution drift or uncontrolled local variations.

  • Participate in key design and stage‑gate forums, providing independent functional assurance.

2. SAP, HighRadius & Esker Enablement

  • Serve as a functional subject‑matter expert for O2C processes (Credit Risk, Pricing, Order Management, Billing, Cash Application, Collections and Dispute Management), across SAP ECC, S/4HANA environments, High Radius and Esker.

  • Translate business requirements into clear functional designs and solution intents for IT and system integrators, to ensure solutions are scalable, well‑controlled, and adopted in operations.

  • Ensure solutions are future‑proofed for S/4HANA and advanced automation.

3. Process Excellence & Continuous Improvement

  • Identify automation opportunities from systemic inefficiencies and root causes using data, process mining, and operational insights.

  • Continuously evolve standardised, global O2C processes that balance efficiency, customer experience, and compliance.

  • Integrate continuous improvement, leveraging Lean / Six Sigma thinking where appropriate.

  • Ensure improvements are assessed holistically across end‑to‑end O2C and the Enterprise, not in functional silos.

4. Stakeholder & Service Partner Management

  • Act as a trusted design authority for senior finance, commercial, IT, and GBS stakeholders.

  • Provide clear direction and challenge to service partners to ensure transformation readiness.

  • Clearly articulate design intent, rationale, and trade‑offs to diverse global audiences.

5. Change, Adoption & Capability Building

  • Drive change impact assessments, stakeholder engagement, and adoption planning to ensure new solutions deliver sustained value.

  • Support capability uplift across O2C teams, particularly in automation, analytics, and exception‑based processing.

  • Act as a role model for hands‑on problem solving, curiosity, and ownership mentality.

Experience & Qualifications

Essential

  • 8 –12+ years’ experience in Order to Cash within a large, complex, international organisation, shared services, or consulting environment covering:

    • Credit Risk

    • Pricing

    • Order management and Billing

    • Cash Application

    • Collections

    • Disputes Management

  • Strong, hands‑on SAP O2C experience, across ECC and S/4HANA.

  • Proven AR automation experience with HighRadius and Esker.

  • Demonstrated track record of delivering transformation or major process / system change, not just operational BAU.

  • Ability to work independently, influence senior stakeholders, and operate effectively in a global matrix.

  • Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.

  • Fluent in English.

Desirable

  • Experience working with Global Business Services (GBS) or outsourced service models.

  • Exposure to process mining, reporting, and advanced AR analytics.

  • Lean Six Sigma or similar continuous improvement certification.

  • Experience supporting or leading S/4HANA migration programs.

  • Experience in regulated industries (e.g., life sciences, healthcare).
