Temporary Laboratory Scientist – Cell & Molecular Biology
Start: ASAP – 6 months
Location: Pivot Park, Oss, Netherlands
Hours: Fulltime – 100% Lab-based

We have an opportunity for a skilled Temporary Laboratory Scientist to support our research teams to cover for maternity leave. You will take on essential laboratory activities and, depending on your experience, contribute to more complex experiments in cell and molecular biology. Your work will be offering your support on our oncology drug discovery projects, ensuring smooth lab operations and high-quality experimental results.

What you’ll do
In this temporary role, you will be fully embedded in our modern laboratory, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations. Working both independently and alongside colleagues, you will carry out a variety of cell and molecular biology experiments, including:

•    Performing, optimising, and troubleshooting cell culture work with different cell types, including passaging, freezing/banking, and transfection.
•    Managing large numbers of samples and datasets using both manual trackers and automated systems to avoid mix-ups and ensure accurate data recording.
•    Setting up and analysing plate-based assays such as proliferation, cytotoxicity, and ELISA, taking ownership of both execution and data interpretation.
•    Contributing to the screening of small molecule inhibitors in oncology projects, with a focus on data quality and reproducibility.
•    Supporting lab operations by handling inventory management, ordering supplies, maintaining equipment, and adhering to safety and compliance standards.

You will play a key role in keeping laboratory workflows efficient, working with precision and always following the highest quality standards.

To qualify for this temporary role, you must:
•    Live within commuting distance to our offices in Oss, Netherlands
•    Hold an EU passport
•    Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant life sciences field
•    Have laboratory experience in an industry setting, including hands-on cell culture
•    Ideally bring a minimum of 2 years of lab experience, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry
•    Be able to work independently with minimal training
•    Be detail-oriented, well-organised, and comfortable managing large numbers of samples or datasets

Desirable
•    Experience with tissue culture, assay development, or screening workflows
•    Exposure to oncology or drug discovery research

Type of contract
•    Temporary contract via a staffing agency, including pension accrual, paid vacation days, and 8% holiday allowance
