Senior Specialist / Responsible Pharmacist Norway – Marketing Company Operations Quality

We are now hiring for a permanent Senior Specialist, Marketing Company Operations Quality (MCOQ), position including Responsible Pharmacist Norway role. The position is based in Oslo, Norway.

The role

As a member of the MCOQ Nordics team, the Senior Specialist is responsible for contributing to the design, implementation and delivery of a common quality system and strategy for Good Manufacturing (GMP) and Good Distribution Practice (GDP) activities for all AstraZeneca products in the Nordic and Baltic Clusters.

As the Responsible Pharmacist Norway, you will act as the primary contact point for the Norwegian Health Authorities, as well as external and internal stakeholders, regarding GDP, the wholesale license and quality-related issues such as product quality complaints, product defects and supply issues. The role also includes deputising for the Responsible Pharmacist Denmark.

Here's what you can look forward to:

  • Act as the key Quality contact for GMP/GDP matters in Norway, serving as a go-to expert and advisor.
  • Support the day-to-day MCOQ operations, including the management of temperature excursions, supply & logistics and product quality complaints, and the investigation of suspected falsified medicines alerts.
  • Contribute strategically to the development and execution of GMP/GDP activities and initiatives across the Clusters.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, GDP, and other applicable regulations, maintaining the highest quality and compliance standards.
  • Hold oversight of the GDP licence to operate, including participation in GMP/GDP audits and inspections, and support the implementation of effective self-inspection programmes across the Clusters.
  • Conduct self-inspections and contribute to the maintenance and improvement of QMS compliance within the Clusters. Identifying and escalating risks to Global Quality as appropriate.
  • Support and lead regional and global projects, contributing expertise and insights.
  • Contribute to the development of GMP/GDP procedures and provide technical input into the creation of global standards.
  • Define, develop, implement, and monitor GMP/GDP policies and standards across Cluster markets.
  • Represent Quality in cross-functional teams, helping to ensure alignment and a consistent approach across the Clusters.
  • Support the global standardisation, simplification, and continuous improvement of MCOQ quality business processes.
  • Contribute to building a high-performing quality organisation that delivers consistent results and continuously strengthens competence, compliance, and innovation.
  • Provide training, support, and coaching to regional Quality MCOQ network roles, helping to build a strong and capable organisation.
  • Apply strong problem-solving skills to address current challenges and proactively support future Quality needs across AstraZeneca.
  • Act as an ambassador for Quality Culture within the Marketing Company and locally, promoting GMP/GDP excellence in everyday practice.


Minimum requirements

  • You hold a Master of Science degree in Pharmacy, providing a strong academic foundation for the role.
  • You bring experience from the pharmaceutical industry, particularly within Quality Assurance, and have a solid understanding of industry standards and practices.
  • You have hands-on experience with GMP/GDP and a strong understanding of the quality environment, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • You demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess issues, identify practical solutions, and support effective decision-making.
  • You have strong communication and influencing skills, enabling effective collaboration with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • You are fluent in Norwegian and have professional working proficiency in English. A good understanding of other Scandinavian languages is a plus.
  • You are comfortable working independently while working collaboratively in a team.


Preferred experience

  • You have experience from similar roles within the pharmaceutical industry, research, pharmacies, or regulatory authorities, giving you a broad understanding of the field.
  • You have experience working in cross-functional teams, demonstrating your ability to navigate and contribute to complex projects involving different functions and areas of expertise.
  • You are able to collaborate effectively both internally within the organisation and externally with partners and stakeholders.
