Third-Party Lab Manager (6 - Month Contract)

Human Biological Samples (HBS) are at the heart of medical research, playing a crucial role in the discovery, development, and implementation of new treatments and diagnostics. These ethically sensitive materials are essential for the success of every clinical trial. As a Third Party Lab Manager (TPLM), you will be responsible for overseeing the operational contracting activities related to Third Party Labs (TPLs) within a project. Your role will involve setting up and managing all TPLs contracted by AstraZeneca's Translational Medicine and Translational Science teams for exploratory testing using HBS.
Accountabilities
In this dynamic role, you will ensure that AstraZeneca's contracted analysis using HBS meets high-quality standards, complies with regulations, and fulfills the scientific and operational needs of the project. You will develop the TPL Scope of Work (SOW), manage operations, track purchase orders, facilitate data transfers, and address risks and issues. Your responsibilities will include creating and maintaining documentation such as vendor communication plans, monitoring plans, and quality control plans. You will contribute to study-specific documentation, monitor TPL operations throughout the contract lifecycle, and oversee contract amendments. Additionally, you will track centrally located HBS using GlobalCode and other tools, report operational activities to stakeholders, resolve data transfer queries, collaborate with Quality Assurance and Procurement teams, and contribute to process development and automation technology deployment. Staying informed about trends, best practices, and regulations in laboratory information management is key to ensuring compliance with GCP, HGR, and other country-specific regulations.
Essential Skills/Experience
Experience with managing and negotiating Research and Development specific contracts.
Degree (or relevant equivalent qualification) in relevant area, or relevant equivalent industry experience.
Fluent in English as the AstraZeneca working language.

Clinical Laboratory scientific experience.

Proven experience in contributing to operational deployment of clinical laboratory testing.
Proven experience in oversight of external partners, especially clinical laboratory service providers.
