Reporting into the Head, Analytics & Data Excellence, the Senior Manager, Data Science & Patient Insights composes our approach to patient information. They also harness patient data to enable cross-functional decisions and develop strategic imperatives. Additionally, this role will improve patient data standards throughout the entire data process. It will also maintain and improve current reporting processes to support the development of industry-leading Patient Support Programs (PSPs).   In this position, you will also be responsible for the supervision of a Manager, Patient Data & Analytics.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, handle & develop a high performing team to deliver patient data analytics & capabilities across the Canadian organization
  • Lead the definition and evolution of patient data strategy and standards (e.g. Privacy, security, appropriate usage, sharing) across the data lifecycle (collection, storage, archiving & destruction)
  • Partner extensively with the Patient Centre of Excellence and external vendor partners to set, supervise and manage data quality and data generation through the patient support lifecycle.
  • Own the delivery of patient data reporting processes to enable industry leading insights on Patient Support Programs (PSPs).
  • Lead data driven predictive opportunity identification to optimize the delivery of patient services and exceptional patient experience.
  • Responsible to drive organizational adherence to patient data standards, in collaboration with cross-functional partners (e.g., Privacy, data governance) and external vendors, including data collection processes
  • Drive proactive improvements in maintenance and automation of our existing dashboards and reporting capabilities/processes
  • Conduct/supervise quantitative analyses using statistical tools (e.g., R) as they relate to relevant business questions/metrics and present results and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Partner with the Medical Evidence Team on real-world evidence studies associated with the Canadian PSP data, supporting data collection, staging and cleansing as required.
  • Partner with IT to implement patient data strategy, data lifecycle management and manage data solutions & platforms
  • Partner with cross-functional partners to find opportunities to leverage additional internal and external data sources to address gaps, improve insights, or influence strategic directions
  • Prepare budgetary recommendations that meet functional goals and provide for effective management of resources

Qualifications

  • BSc, MSc, or PhD degree with a quantitative component (e.g., Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Epidemiology)
  • Solid understanding of real-world data (e.g., claims, EHRs), including data governance and storage concepts that could apply to real-world data (e.g., data standards, S3)
  • Strong foundation of quantitative skills and a practical approach using the appropriate technique/methodology for the problem
  • Expertise in statistical analyses using R and some experience with dashboarding software (e.g., PowerBI)
  • Experience in predictive analytics or machine learning (ML) models preferred. 
  • Preferred understanding of epidemiological methods that can be used for observational/RWE studies
  • Excellent interpersonal skills that can be tailored to cross-functional audiences at every level with ability to positively influence decisions
  • Experience leading a team of data analysts/scientists

Annual base salary for this position ranges from 134,855.20 to 176,997.45.

AstraZeneca is committed to providing fair and equitable compensation opportunities to all colleagues. Our compensation policies and practices have been designed to allow colleagues to progress through the salary range over time as they progress in their role. The range provided in this posting represents an offer pay range used in a majority of situations. The base pay offered will vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including the candidate's skills and experience, job-related knowledge, and other specific business and organizational needs.  In some cases, offers outside the range may also be considered to address unique circumstances.

In addition, our permanent positions offer an annual Variable Pay Bonus/Short Term Incentive opportunity as well as eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (if applicable to role).  Benefits offered for permanent roles include a competitive Flex Benefits & Retirement Savings Program, 4 weeks’ paid vacation, and annual Personal Days. Fixed Term Contract/Temporary positions (excluding students) are offered a Contract Benefits Program.
