Introduction to role:
Join AstraZeneca as a Director of Project Management, where you will play a pivotal role in the Transformation Management Office. Reporting to the Head of the Transformation Management Office, you will provide essential programme and project management support for the efficient delivery of clinical trial data. Upon completion, your expertise will extend to supporting other programs across Clinical Operations. You will be tasked with managing complex and critical projects, requiring adept stakeholder management and strategic oversight to ensure successful delivery across multiple initiatives. Accountabilities:
As the Project Lead for complex, critical projects, or providing Programme Level Project Management strategy and support, you will oversee multiple complex projects. You may also be responsible for creating or improving the programme framework. For highly complex projects, you might lead specific areas or subgroups, providing functional expertise as needed. At the programme level, you will manage operational aspects including planning tools, programme forums, metrics, compliance, RAID logs, reporting, finances, and project support. You will liaise closely with external suppliers, other Project Leads, IT Project Managers, and cross-functional colleagues across CDI, Clinical Operations, R&D, and IT. Your role involves understanding key business areas impacted by projects, mobilizing resources, assigning responsibilities, building and leading project teams, managing stakeholder relationships, supporting change management, communications, training processes, adjusting business cases, tracking costs and benefits, executing project work plans, ensuring quality assurance procedures are adopted, resolving risks and issues, and potentially taking on line management responsibilities.
Essential Skills/Experience:
- Degree(s) in business and/or sciences, or equivalent in consultative or business management.
- 8-10 years proven experience in project management delivered in either business or pharmaceutical industry.
- Experience in programme/project management, with a proven track record.
- Knowledge and application of key project management principles (i.e. AGILE, PRINC2, Lean).
- Evidence of shaping and developing innovative solutions that have a major impact within the business area and organisation.
- Leadership skills, including the ability to solve problems that involve many decision makers, and develop multiple options/recommendations.
- Extensive networking skills, ability to interact widely and effectively both within the company (on both an interdepartmental and interdisciplinary basis) and externally.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to build strong relationships.
- Demonstrate strong communication and relationship-building skills with experience of collaborating and sharing knowledge between teams.
