Associate Director, Contract Operations

The Associate Director, Contract Operations is responsible for leading a team that handles all activities related to Master

Data, Contracting, Membership, Chargebacks and Rebates across multiple customer segments including Health Plans, GPOs,

Specialty Pharmacies, Physicians and Wholesalers. Additionally, the Associate Director, Contract Operations will work

collaboratively with Account Directors supporting the overall relationship, strategy, contracting and/or payment activities.

They will be responsible to ensure contract terms are aligned to intent and overall AZ requirements. The Associate Director

will be responsible to review payments for completeness and accuracy managing revenue leakage. The Associate Director,

Contract Operations will also be required to effectively communicate to senior management and stakeholders (Account

Directors & Senior Leaders) any order, contract and/or payment development progress, issues and risks. Individual will

need to be knowledgeable of department’s operational systems and processes to provide necessary oversight. The

Associate Director will actively strive to maintain a balance between compliance, efficiency, and customer excellence

ensuring all controls are complied with. The Associate Director, Contract Operations is also responsible for the leadership,

development and mentoring of their teams.

Typical Accountabilities

  • Build and lead a team to focus on timely, accurate and efficient customer related processes encompassing order management, contracting, claims, and membership needs while meeting all internal AstraZeneca standards and government requirements.

  • Develop and execute a governance process to ensure appropriate allocation of team resources to meet all contractual and regulatory timelines.

  • Manage a staff, including performance management, development and hiring decision processes.

  • Review and approve payment requests, customer maintenance and eligibility requests, and sign customer contracts within appropriate Delegation of Authority.

  • Manage dispute resolutions with Customers and Account Directors

  • Define qualitative and quantitative metrics to increase efficiency / effectiveness.

  • Supervise the preparation and processing of Customer communications, and other contract requests submitted by the department’s internal customers about products offered.

  • Communicate with external customers to determine contract requirements and position AstraZeneca to respond with high quality and timely contractual information.

  • Interact with senior management and internal customers in providing knowledgeable input with regard to the factors that need to be considered as contracts and product strategies are developed and ensure operational implementation of agreement.

  • Work closely with internal stakeholders (ie, Sales, Finance, Contract Strategy & Government Reporting) to deliver the most complete contracting solutions

  • Report monthly/quarterly data to Finance

  • Maintain collaborative working relationships with external customers to ensure timely and accurate payments.

  • Maintain collaborative working relationship with internal departments (such as Brand Teams, Trade Operations, etc.) focused on driving value for our customers. Monitor and assess changes to systems and/or processes and communicate feedback to senior leadership.

  • Lead meetings with Top Customers, and Account Directors, related to current and upcoming account activities.

  • Maintain Vendor relations

Essential Desirable

  • Bachelor’s degree; preferably in a relevant field

  • 5+ years of pharmaceutical or related healthcare business

  • 2+ years of people management or relevant experience

  • Understanding of Market Access and Healthcare delivery

  • Analytical skills including problem solving

  • Demonstrated abilities to influence with and without authority, lead teams and develop/foster relationships with senior leadership

  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

Desirable

Annual base salary for this position ranges from 143,621.60 to 188,503.35.

The range provided in this posting represents an offer pay range used in a majority of situations. The base pay offered will vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including the candidate's skills and experience, job-related knowledge, and other specific business and organizational needs.  In some cases, offers outside the range may also be considered to address unique circumstances.

In addition, our permanent positions offer an annual Variable Pay Bonus/Short Term Incentive opportunity as well as eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (if applicable to role).  Benefits offered for permanent roles include a competitive Flex Benefits & Retirement Savings Program, 4 weeks’ paid vacation, and annual Personal Days.
