Associate Director, Alexion R&D Finance, Projects Lead
This is what you will do:
TheAssociateDirector, Alexion R&D Finance Projects Lead, is a key contributing member of the AlexionR&D Finance team, focused onsupportingimprovements tofinancialreporting and analysisandalsoleading transformationeffortsof the Alexion R&DFinance function asAlexioncontinuesto integrate and align ourtechnologiesand ways of working with AstraZeneca.
This role requires interactions throughout the Alexion RDBU, including multiple global locations as well as functions beyond Alexion Finance, such asGlobal Financial Services (GFS),Alexion & AZITand AstraZenecaR&D Finance.
This position willbe responsible forend-to-end project oversight,deliveryof keyenhancement andtransformationinitiatives,and provide keysupport fordata qualityimprovementinitiatives(in close collaborationwith GFS). The role will build on thefoundationalprogress completed to dateandcontinue to drivestrategic initiativesto standardize and better align with AstraZeneca.
You willbe responsible for:
Data,ReportingandAnalytics
Work closely with the Sr. Director of R&D Finance FP&A, and R&D FinanceBusiness Partners, onenhancementsto the Power BI solution and ensuring integrity with AZ reporting.
Serve asthe primarycontact between Alexion R&D Finance and IT,to supportSnowflake and/or Power BIenhancements,initiativeprioritization,planningandoversightofBAUmaintenance activities.
Partner withR&D Finance FP&A and R&D Finance Business Partners todefine and standardize reporting for function and project costs, includingenhancementsto dataand reporting.
Serve asfinancialdata and reporting subject matter expert(SME), supporting theR&D FP&A and R&D Finance business partners.
Workinclose coordinationwithAlexionEnterpriseFinanceand AZ R&D FP&A, to ensureadherence toreportingstandards andmaintainconsistency and integrity.
Identifyand deliver automation opportunities to reduce manual efforts and cycle time while improving accuracy.
Support ad-hocdata and reportinginitiativeswhile ensuring alignment with AstraZeneca.
Technology Strategy,Systems Roadmapand Governance
Define multi-year financial technology strategy, and clear systems roadmapforAlexionR&DFinancewith specific emphasis on key technologies (e.g., ABACUS for clinical trial accounting and AXIAL forSAP S/4HANAreplacement).
SupportABACUS and AXIALpre-readiness activities, such asbut not limited to,current state assessment and fit-gapanalysis, data readiness and cleansing,change managementand stakeholder engagement.
Coordinate withleadership andSMEsto ensure alignmentof strategic vision,in accordance withAstraZeneca’s roadmap.
Represent Alexion R&D Finance at Alexion Data Office(ADO)and support theexecution of theADO’svision.
Collaborate with the ADO to drive R&D Finance’sAI enabled analytics strategy
Serve asPLANIT(Planisware for Project Portfolio Management)FinanceSME, and support future enhancements,upgradesandfuturePLANIT integrations with other AstraZenecatools.
Providequarterly updates for executive level leadership to report on projectpriorities, risks,and accomplishments.
You will need to have:
Minimum7-10years of relevant work experience.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
Experiencewithsystemsand technology, both financial andnon-financial systems.
Strong organizational,prioritization,and project managementskills.
Communicate effectively with all levels in the organization, including cross-functionaland senior finance leaders.
We would prefer for you to have:
Experience withPower BI, Snowflake,Planiswarefor project portfolio management,ERP implementations,andclinical trial accountingsoftware
Computer experience with all Microsoft office products preferred.
Occasionaltravelmay berequiredfor training or other work-related duties.

Annual base salary for this position ranges from $148,058.40 to $194,326.65 AstraZeneca is committed to providing fair and equitable compensation opportunities to all colleagues. Our compensation policies and practices have been designed to allow colleagues to progress through the salary range over time as they progress in their role. The range provided in this posting represents an offer pay range used in a majority of situations. The base pay offered will vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including the candidate's skills and experience, job-related knowledge, and other specific business and organizational needs. In some cases, offers outside the range may also be considered to address unique circumstances.
In addition, our permanent positions offer an annual Variable Pay Bonus/Short Term Incentive opportunity as well as eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (if applicable to role). Benefits offered for permanent roles include a competitive Flex Benefits & Retirement Savings Program, 4 weeks’ paid vacation, and annual Personal Days.
