What you’ll do
As the Advanced Analytics Lead at AstraZeneca, you will have a crucial role in shaping the company's data strategy to influence key business decisions. Reporting to the Head of Analytics and Insights, you will manage a specialized team of commercial analysts and data scientists, nurturing a culture of innovation and strategic foresight. Your collaboration with Medical, Marketing, and Sales departments will be essential in spotting new business opportunities and ensuring that data initiatives are well integrated with the broader business strategy. Strategic project alignment and the integration of customer and patient insights will be central to advancing the decision-making processes.

Direct a team of analysts and data scientists, cultivating a forward-thinking approach to data utilization in business planning. Ideate/ co-design solutions that leverage the power of cutting edge analytics solutions and/or address the gap in big data. Apply a deep understanding of statistical methods, data manipulation, and model building to produce insightful analytics. Spearhead sophisticated analytical projects, such as persona development, customer segmentation, targeting optimization, and territory design to enhance marketing and sales productivity. Work closely with Medical, Marketing, and Sales departments to identify and capitalize on business opportunities, ensuring initiatives are strategically aligned with the company's goals.


Essential for the role

  • Possess a Business Degree (MBA), Data Science Degree, or Advanced Mathematics Degree.

  • Proven ability to lead advanced analytical approaches to customer segmentation, targeting optimization, territory design, and workload modeling for Marketing and Sales teams.

  • Demonstrated experience in managing strategic projects with a focus on enhancing marketing and sales force productivity.

  • A solid grasp of current industry trends in technology and big data solutions.

  • Experience leading strategic projects and cross-functional teams to drive business outcomes.

  • Expertise in developing decision support engines that feed into the reporting ecosystems.

  • Experience in leading the delivery of high-quality analytics from scoping and data quality assessment to insights generation and visualization. Data Science and Machine Learning experience for advanced analytics.

  • Leadership in organizational change through data and digital transformation projects, optimizing business strategies.


Desirable for the role

  • Skilled use of SQL, Python, R, and DataIKU, with an up-to-date knowledge of technology and big data trends.

  • Hands-on experience in Data Warehousing, SQL, PowerBI, PowerApps.

  • Previous roles within the pharmaceutical industry are advantageous.

  • Experience in Design thinking, Agile and Innovation frameworks
