Introduction to role
Working within the UK 1 Engineering and Facilities Function, this position provides professional engineering support to the AstraZeneca Biologics – Liverpool manufacturing facility. As a member of the existing technical team, you will proactively contribute to the development of providing a World Class service to the site, ensuring an uninterrupted, stable, and reliable operation of the UK1 Manufacturing processes.
Accountabilities
Comply with required standards with respect to documentation, good housekeeping, cGMP, health and safety, timekeeping, regulatory legislative requirements and in accordance with the rules and requirements of the GMP Compliance Rulebook, the Code of Conduct, quality manual and any other company policies and procedures.
Take ownership of, and be responsible for, all actions undertaken as part of the role, to ensure commitments to the organisation and colleagues are always met.
Ensure Operational Excellence is integrated into the team’s responsibilities. This should include adopting a philosophy of continuous improvement and a “Right First Time From Me” attitude to all operations.
Supporting the Calibration Coordinator in the completion of instrument calibration activities as per the site calibration schedule.
Maintaining instrumental calibration records for an expanding Biotech facility in line with cGMP, adhering to corporate SOP’s and Good Engineering Practice.
Supporting the timely administration/data guidance to the Calibration database and CMMS.
Proactively support the accurate completion of non-conformance investigations.
Supporting the liaison with external calibration service supports organisation and visiting Engineers performing onsite activities, including the safety management and hosting.
Supervise service contractors on site, ensuring effective people management with regard to health and safety legislation.
Work with limited supervision, receiving general instructions on new lines of work and special assignments.
Support the Engineering Maintenance/Maintenance Systems Team Leaders as required on routine work and special assignments.
Essential Skills/Experience
The job holder may be a graduate/have undertaken a formal Engineering apprenticeship, and likely to have a minimum of a HNC academic qualification with equivalent industry experience of working in a calibration environment.
Relevant experience in Electrical/Instrumentation Maintenance Engineering, formal apprenticeship or on-the-job training.
Experience supporting a GMP manufacturing environment in engineering, maintenance or instrumentation.
Experience in instrument calibration/management of a calibration system. Experience controlling visiting contractors, safe working methods and practices, use of Permit to Work systems, including reviewing safe working methods and associated risk assessments.
Considerable technical knowledge and high level of expertise in both calibration and diagnostics.
Professional approach when dealing with others, good communication skills, calm and structured approach. Ability to relate to internal customers' requirements throughout the organization and effective communication with external suppliers to meet business needs.
High degree of accuracy in written and verbal communication, good presentation and interpersonal skills.
Proactive member of the Engineering/Facilities Team providing efficient and effective support.
Preferably experienced with Beamex CMX calibration database or other calibration management systems.
