What you’ll do
Ensures communication/CA strategies are implemented and adhered to in a functional or geographical area. May participate or lead a small project team designing or improving communication strategies or campaigns.
Typical Accountabilities:
Leads the development and delivery of a robust global Public Relations strategy for a portfolio of brands, or aids the development of these strategies through expert technical support
Interacts with regulatory bodies and government officials to influence decisions and allows AstraZeneca to respond proactively to anticipated changes
Owns key relationships with officials and regulators and ensures these are properly maintained and strengthened
Oversees all external communications for one or several functions, or a portfolio of brands
Protects and enhances the reputation of AstraZeneca Brands and AstraZeneca businesses through delivery and implementation of AstraZeneca approach to brand issues management in close collaboration with Commercial Leaders, Research and Development Leaders, Legal and Regulatory and other communication groups
Provides senior public relations counsel on an ad hoc basis to all brand teams within brand portfolio and other teams as required
Employs internal and external contacts to gain an understanding of the most complex and important developments in the legislative, regulatory or public policy environment and communicates these internally to brand managers and other colleagues
Helps brand leaders develop communications strategies that are consistent with their brand strategies and the local, national and global communications strategy
Develops processes to collect data and feedback on the effectiveness and success of past regulatory submissions, lobbying efforts and internal and external communications programs
Ensures brand communications alignment and interaction with Corporate Affairs, Investor Relations, Regions, Marketing Companies, Research and Development, other Senior Executive functions and internal communication functions, and interacts with representatives from those functions as and when appropriate
Supports Country President Communications Excellence in driving capability and best practice globally
Leads the development of global press release for material information in relation to brands in support of Senior Executives and Disclosure Committee
May performance manages several communications professionals across portfolio of brands
Essential for the role
Bachelor’s degree in communications or a related field
Considerable experience in one or more areas of communications or Corporate affairs
Expertise in one or more area of internal or external corporate communications
Experience in the pharmaceutical industry
Experience managing Public Relations or Communications in a number of brands and at different stages of the lifecycle
Understanding and experience of digital and social media
