Senior Director, DS&AI for CRM AI & Agentic AI Development

You will lead the strategy and delivery of AI agents within Salesforce/Agentforce across multiple therapy areas and regions, partnering closely with business leaders to turn therapeutic strategies into measurable results. Can you unite LLMs, autonomous coordination, and CRM user experience to deliver tangible business impact linking to revenue, patient starts, engagement quality, operational efficiency, and launch success?

Accountabilities:

  • Team Leadership: Build, mentor, and encourage a high-performing unit composed of artificial intelligence researchers, machine learning engineers, and agent creators passionate about CRM-embedded intelligence; establish outstanding practices for modeling, LLM/agent creation, testing, verification, and implementation.

  • Agentic AI Development: Lead creation of CRM-embedded AI Copilots (Field, Medical/MSL, Marketing), Decision Engines (Recommender Agent, Trigger Agent, Digital Twin Agent), and Intelligence Agents (Insight IQ, Market IQ, Care Gaps Engine, Content IQ, Marketing Representative, Influencer/Rising Stars IQ) to provide reliable, impactful insights throughout therapy areas.

  • CRM Product Partnership: Co-own the strategic direction and cross-platform development plan for CRM and AI alongside the CRM Program Lead and the CRM Business Product Management team; align AI capabilities with CRM workflows, UX patterns, governance, and sprint processes.

  • Experience Integration: Embed technology-based mentorship directly into Salesforce/Agentforce experiences to boost efficiency and minimize obstacles for reps, MSLs, district managers, marketers, and access teams.

  • Collaborator Engagement: Work closely alongside franchise leaders, field excellence, omnichannel, IBEX, medical affairs, and market access to translate strategies into AI use cases across Oncology, CVRM, Respiratory, and Rare Disease; ensure global scalability and local market adoption across US, EUCAN, Japan, and International regions.

  • Responsible AI and Compliance: Ensure all models and experiences adhere to Responsible AI, regulatory, and MLR standards.

  • Define clear business value assumptions linked to core outcomes. Partner with IBEX to measure uplift and run A/B tests. Validate impact and drive continuous improvement through AZ Brain’s closed-loop learning cycle.

  • Governance and Influence: Participate in design councils, governance forums, and executive steering committees; act as the DS&AI partner to the CRM Commercial Lead, collaborating closely with the Global CRM Senior Director to deliver the global program.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Recruit, lead, and mentor a team of AI scientists, ML engineers, and agent developers dedicated to CRM-embedded intelligence.

  • Establish best-in-class practices for AI modeling, LLM/agent development, experimentation, validation, and deployment into CRM.

  • Lead the development of CRM-embedded intelligence across all customer-facing roles: AI Copilots (Field Copilot, Medical/MSL Copilot, Marketing Copilot); Decision Engines (Recommender Agent, Trigger Agent, Digital Twin Agent); Intelligence Agents (Insight IQ, Market IQ, Care Gaps Engine, Content IQ, Marketing Agent, Influencer/Rising Stars IQ).

  • Co-own the CRM + AI product vision and cross-platform roadmap alongside the CRM Program Lead and CRM Business Product Managers.

  • Ensure all AI capabilities align with CRM workflows, UX patterns, governance, and sprint processes.

  • Integrate AI agent recommendations into Salesforce/Agentforce experiences used daily by field, medical, and marketing teams.

  • Participate in CRM build panels, oversight groups, and senior leadership steering committees.

  • Operate as a DS&AI collaborator with the CRM Commercial Lead and coordinate with the Global CRM Senior Director. Report to the Commercial DS&AI VP while maintaining a dotted line reporting relationship with the CRM Global Head for delivering the CRM global program.

  • Partner closely with franchise leaders, field operations, omnichannel, IBEX, medical affairs, and market access teams.

  • Ensure worldwide scalability and adoption in local markets across US, EUCAN, Japan, and International.

  • Ensure all models meet Responsible AI, compliance, and MLR standards.

  • Establish clear business value hypotheses connected to revenue, patient initiations, engagement efficiency, operational efficiency, and launch success.

  • Partner with IBEX to measure uplift, run A/B tests, and validate impact.

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • Senior leadership experience building and scaling agentic AI and LLM-powered products within large-scale CRM environments.

  • Deep hands-on familiarity with Salesforce/Agentforce ecosystems, including data integration, orchestration, and CRM UX patterns.

  • Background in life sciences commercial, medical, or market access functions, with exposure to therapeutic areas such as Oncology, CVRM, Respiratory, and Rare Disease.

  • Practical knowledge of model governance, MLR processes, and Responsible AI frameworks in regulated environments.

  • Expertise in experimentation design, A/B testing, and uplift measurement for enterprise products; comfort partnering with analytics platforms such as IBEX.

  • Experience operationalizing continuous learning systems for agents and LLMs, including feedback loops similar to AZ Brain’s closed-loop learning.

  • Shown success leading global programs and landing solutions across US, EUCAN, Japan, and International markets.

Location and Working Model

  • Location: Gaithersburg, Maryland. 
  • Working Model: Hybrid-three days per week in office, two days remote. Occasional travel for key meetings, plant/partner engagements, conferences, or incident support may be required.

The annual base pay for this position ranges from $196,868.80 - 295,303.20 USD Annual. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
