Scientist, Biologics Production
Scientist, Biologics Production
Are you ready to be part of a dynamic team that is revolutionizing biologics production? We are building a high-throughput, automation-first engine to deliver complex biologics—including IgGs and multispecifics—faster, at higher quality, and at scale. As a Scientist in Biologics Production, you will play a crucial role within an integrated team that spans mammalian expression, purification, and fit-for-purpose analytics. Your mission? To compress DNA-to-material timelines for discovery programs and technology development. If you have the drive to innovate, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to communicate and deliver molecules and corresponding data packages, this is the opportunity for you!
Accountabilities:
Production & Process Development
- Aid and execute in improving the sequence-to-material pipeline: transient CHO/HEK expression, purification, and QC assessment of IgGs, VHH (+/- Fc), and multispecifics using high-throughput workflows.
- Predictive analytical QC routes to inform purification groups and meet therapy area demand for decision-quality materials and technology development initiatives.
Purification Automation, Analytics & Digital Operations
- Automated liquid-handling workflows in relation to biologics purification (monospecific and multispecific) and analytical stations (SEC-HPLC or UPLC, CE-SDS).
- Embed data integrity and compliance across workflows via Genedata Biologics, eLN, and Smartsheet governance and training.
- Maintain in-process controls and release-for-use criteria in partnership with Analytics and Developability, including SEC, CE-SDS, Endotoxin, and HCP.
Cross-Functional Impact
- Partner closely with Protein Engineering and Novel Modalities (PENM), Assays/Profiling and Pharmacology (APP), and PS&A Analytics and Developability, and collaborate with BPD Purification Process Sciences for scale-up readiness.
Essential Skills/Experience:
- B.S. in Biochemistry, Bio/Chemical Engineering, or closely related field.
- 2-4 or more years in biologics production and purification in biotech or pharma.
- Experience in mammalian expression and purification/QC (transient CHO or HEK-derived).
- Digital and compliance acumen with Genedata Biologics and eLN or Smartsheet-based governance.
Desirable Skills/Experience:
- Hands-on experience in industry setting with Hamilton liquid-handling platforms for protein purification and normalization.
- Coordination and planning of liquid handler usage and routine operation.
- Experience with Unchained Labs instruments for UV/Vis as well as sample data management and transfer into liquid handling platforms.
- Programming knowledge is a plus for this position.
