We are developing a diverse pipeline of next-generation medicines targeting both solid and hematological cancers. We are looking for a motivated Scientist with expertise in in vivo oncology research to join our team in Gaithersburg, MD, USA. As a key member of our team, you will contribute to all aspects of in vivo pharmacology support, helping to establish assay systems and deliver impactful datasets for drug discovery.

Accountabilities:
In this laboratory-based role within Oncology Research, you will design, conduct, and analyze experiments to evaluate the function of our antibody drug conjugate (ADC) drugs and explore their mechanisms of action. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and project leaders to ensure timely data generation and dissemination, contributing to scientific publication goals. Your strong background in laboratory-based science will keep you informed about relevant scientific literature in tumor biology, pharmacology, and cancer preclinical models. Your passion for the field will drive your success.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • - Scientist - B.S. in Biology, Pharmacology or related scientific discipline with 3-5+ years relevant scientific experience; M.S. – 1+ years MS desired but not required. The job is for non-PhD only.
  • - Biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry experience preferred but not essential.
  • - Experience developing and working with complex in vivo animal models, such as syngeneic, human xenograft, and autochthonous rodent models.
  • - Proficient in numerous routes of drug administration - IV, IP, SC and PO and capable collecting blood samples via submandibular, tail vein or cardiac punctures.
  • - Experience executing in vivo pharmacology studies in mouse tumor models, including dose-finding tolerability studies, PK/PD and efficacy studies.
  • - Experience with a range of in vitro skills, e.g., cancer cell culture both suspension and adherent.
  • - Works independently, assesses and reports data clearly and concisely, understanding its implications within drug discovery.
  • - Maintains a well-developed understanding of drug discovery approaches and applies broader functional knowledge to support diverse project groups.
  • - Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills with evidence of delivering data packages in a team-oriented environment.
  • - Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • - Proven track record of high productivity and scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals or IND enabled studies.

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • - Experience using biologics such as mAB, ADC, and small molecule in vivo preferred.
  • - Experience with multi-color Flowcytometry preferred.
  • - Proficient in RAT handling including blood drawing, cell implant, and IV dosing highly preferred.
  • - Experience handling human and mouse cell cultures in vitro proficiently with ability to scale up as needed.
  • - Demonstrated ability in presenting scientific results using GraphPad Prism and PowerPoint format.
  • - Knowledge of the industrial drug discovery process and ELN (electronic lab notebook) preferred.

The annual base pay for this position ranges from $87,200.00 - 130,800.00. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.  In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
