Global Commercial Head - Prostate Cancer

As a Global Commercial Head of Prostate Cancer, you'll play a pivotal role in channeling our scientific capabilities to further our agenda to bring our novel, first-in-class PARP1-selective inhibitor to patients across the globe. The role has leadership accountabilities that are critical to the delivery of AZ business objectives and portfolio value targets. Working with the Global Franchise Head, you will be a critical part of the Global Franchise Team and enable the cross-functional teams to successfully deliver commercial with this asset.

As a Global Commercial Head of Prostate Cancer will be responsible for developing and driving the overall commercialization plans across indications and tumor areas, by collaborating directly with Global Product Teams (GPTs) and leading the Integrated Business Teams (IBTs) which includes members from Insights, Medical Affairs, Market Access, Diagnostics, Regional / Country teams, and other OBU functions. The role will work closely with Global Franchise Head, Global Product Lead, Commercial Heads in key regions, to ensure teams work effectively together and with the broader business.

This position is based in our US headquarters for our Global Oncology Business Unit, in Gaithersburg, MD but could also be based on our UK headquarters in Cambridge, UK. This role, reporting into the Global Franchise Head, will be a core member of the Global Product Team and leads the planning, creation and implementation of global launch readiness and brand planning.

Typical Accountabilities:

  •  Accountable for global commercialization strategy for asset across the full indication set - first launch in metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer, followed by breast cancer and subsequent prostate indications.

    • Own competitive strategy and competitive response planning for asset in a competitive class.

    • Lead global market shaping in advance of first launch with a focus on external engagement, partnerships, evidence generation and patient-centric solutions that support patient identification, scientific narrative and value demonstration

    • Own the global launch readiness plan and milestone framework from pre-readout through first launch

    • Lead the Integrated Business Team, bringing together Insights, Medical Affairs, Market Access, Diagnostics, Corporate Affairs, Regional and Country teams to develop and implement one global brand strategy.

  • Accountable for future-proofed revenue forecasts, long-range plan inputs and business cases that are informed by robust customer insight, competitive intelligence and commercial judgement.

  • Represent the commercial perspective at the Global Product Team, to senior executives and to governance committees, ensuring commercialization priorities and competitive strategy are properly reflected in investment and development decisions.

  • Engage Regional and Country commercial leadership to secure alignment on strategy, prepare core markets for launch, and share learning across markets.

  • Collaborate closely with and provide direction to cross-functional partners (e.g. Insights, Access, Medical, Sales, Training, Corporate Affairs) for the development and implementation of both strategic and operational plans

  • Collaborate with Market Access and the extended team to deliver a sustainable global pricing and access strategy at a brand level and across indications,

  • Contribute to the broader Oncology Therapeutic Area strategy across GU and breast tumor areas

  • Lead the global team to build commercial capability at global and market level. Lead by example in innovation, cross-functional collaboration and enterprise mindset — removing barriers and simplifying ways of working to maximize value for patients and for AstraZeneca.

Essential Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field

  • 10+ years’ experience in pharmaceutical development and commercialization

  • Must have successfully launched brands at a country level, as well as global strategic marketing experience

  • Proven strong pre-launch and launch excellence capability in a competitive setting

  • Demonstrated ability to partner with R&D and medical organizations to identify strategic development opportunities and shape development plans with associated value to the brand

  • Strong business acumen and working knowledge of forecasting, market research, insight generation, pricing and competitive intelligence to build effective commercial strategies and compelling business cases

  • Strong analytical, organisational and communication skills, written and verbal, including presenting to senior governance audiences.

  • Ability to thrive in ambiguity and lead without authority in a matrixed organization, with an entrepreneurial mindset and a track record of driving new opportunities and catalyzing others to build innovative solutions·

  • Proven cross-functional leadership, enterprise mindset, collaborative working and influencing skills, with demonstrated ability to inform, persuade and lead across markets and functions

  • Scientific curiosity coupled with ability to manage complex projects

  • High ethical standards and personal integrity ·

  • Effective stakeholder and relationship management, able to build trusted relationships at multiple levels inside and outside AstraZeneca.

Desirable:

  • MBA in relevant field

  • Sales/Customer-facing experience

  • Line management experience

  • Substantial Oncology experience

  • Experience in a precision-medicine or biomarker setting

Compensation and Benefits

AstraZeneca is committed to providing competitive, equitable and transparent compensation. The annual base pay for this position ranges from $231,988.80 - $347,983.20 USD Annual. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.  In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles).
