As Senior Director, Facilities and Engineering, you will lead the operation of the engineering, facilities, and maintenance at the site. You will provide technical support to the existing site as well as supervise new capital construction and installation activities. Direct the operation of the site utilities, including technical responsibility for supporting two manufacturing plants, labs, warehouses, and office areas. Embrace a lean and digital approach to achieve objectives. Lead all aspects of energy and water conservation efforts and identify projects that offer significant financial savings. Prepare, implement, and oversee capital and operating budgets.

Accountabilities

  • Lead a multi-layered organization with strong change management skills and business acumen.

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements. Promote a strong safety culture within the Facilities and Engineering (F&E) environment.

  • Recruit, lead, and mentor a diverse team of F&E professionals. Cultivate a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement within the facility.

  • Drive Lean Digital practices and continuous improvement, including reliability-based maintenance.

  • Solve technical problems effectively and communicate well verbally and in writing.

  • Apply engineering and automation principles for process equipment and controls.

  • Work well in a matrixed environment with excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Organize strategically and interact with all management levels, including senior management.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage both tactically and strategically, to prepare contingency plans and ensure execution of plans.

  • Manage organizational projects, budgets, and performance standards.

  • Provide guidance based on company goals and policies to achieve objectives and schedules.

  • Ensure qualified and adequately trained personnel and maintain process oversight.

  • Influence organizational objectives and long-term goals; manage risks in decision-making.

  • Establish and interpret policies with minimal direction, focusing on long-term results.

  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills—both upwards and downwards and outside the company. Ability to lead and communicate orally, in written documents, and in formal presentations is required.

Essential Skills/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Life Sciences

  • 15+ years of relevant experience

  • 15+ years of leadership experience in a heavily matrixed environment

  • Experience managing a budget of $100M+

Desirable Skills/Experience

  • MS or MBA preferred

  • 15+ years of experience within the pharmaceutical industry

  • 20+ years of experience in a biopharmaceutical environment strongly preferred
