Senior Specialist, Business Strategy

Plats Durham, North Carolina, USA Jobb-id R-242281 Datum inlagd 12/21/2025

AstraZeneca’s end-to-end aggregated planning unifies portfolio and study needs into one integrated view to help deliver 20 new medicines by 2030 while reducing waste. It sharpens prioritization, flags risks earlier, accelerates trade‑offs, and aligns clinical demand and supply with scenario visibility on timelines, inventory, and service levels—making planning data consistent, accessible, and actionable.

Within R&D, the Operational Data Strategy (ODS) team powers this at scale. We’re hiring a Senior Specialist, Business Strategy to support E2E Aggregated Planning by building trusted Power BI decision products—governed semantic models, intuitive UX/UI, and summary analytics. Reporting to the Strategic Analytics & Enablement Lead and partnering with E2E planning leads, you’ll own high‑quality dashboards that drive adoption and clarity, while modeling critical thinking, a growth mindset, grit, and resilience.

In this role you will

  • Build and evolve Power BI decision products—intuitive dashboards and governed semantic models—with strong UX/UI, accessibility, performance, and reliable data storytelling.

  • Translate business needs into reusable datasets and consistent definitions/calculations; partner with data engineering to ensure data readiness, scalable architecture, and clear documentation.

  • Deliver timely, accurate analyses and executive‑ready visuals for decision forums; state assumptions and limitations, recommend actions, and adapt content based on stakeholder feedback.

  • Apply structured problem solving: frame hypotheses, align plans to scope and timelines, and refine as new information emerges while staying focused on clinical operations priorities.

  • Uphold quality and governance across BI: versioning, change control, documentation, accessibility, performance testing, and reproducibility; manage delivery end‑to‑end with transparent progress reporting.

  • Enable adoption and value: train users, provide guidance on optimal use of dashboards and datasets, share best practices, and champion consistent, evidence‑based decisions.

Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree in analytics, computer science, information systems, design, engineering, or a related discipline with at least 3 years related experience

  • Demonstrated expertise in Power BI and BI applications with strong UX/UI design skills; proficiency in semantic modeling and DAX for governed datasets.

  • Experience developing complex analyses and decision‑support products in business and/or scientific domains.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; able to articulate insights, limitations, and trade‑offs clearly for different audiences.

  • Strong experience with UX/UI design principles, accessibility, performance optimization, and data storytelling for decision support.

Desired

  • Familiarity with database systems (SQL and NoSQL), ETL pipelines, cloud environments, and software development practices that support reproducibility and version control.

  • Experience working in Agile delivery environments and exposure to governance frameworks for BI product lifecycle and change management.
