The Axial Programme will be powered by S/4HANA a new ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system which will be implemented right across the organisation and will provide our business with standardised processes, enhanced financial management, common data and real time reporting, transforming the way we work through our entire supply chain - from bench to patient. 

Our current technology is used by more than 20,000 employees daily, is foundational to all AZ entities and is central to most core business processes. This programme provides the opportunity for real transformation and to shape the way of working globally for many years to come.

Introduction to the role:

As the Axial programme moves out of the Global Design phase and pivots towards deployment phases, we have an opportunity for a Finance professional to support the Axial Account to Report team. The role will be essential in the next phase  and will offer an opportunity to develop S/4 knowledge as part of the AXIAL project. 

The role will provide support on planning, directing and overseeing a wide range of analyses, related to current and future improvements associated with the Axial programme. The role requires a recognised expert within own field and often first point of contact for specialist queries.

Accountabilities:

  • Acts as part of a skilled team with knowledge in one or more areas of finance, reporting and process improvement and will be providing a good overview of Finance at AstraZeneca, particularly Record to Report. 

  • Assists with maintaining documentation for the S/4HANA processes with regards to Account to Report through BIC processes (process mapping) and other project methodology as required

  • Supports the review of Standard Operating Procedures

  • Supports testing phases for each deployment including:

  • Working with the Global and Local Deployment Leads to align on activities required in testing

  • Providing overviews of the Axial processes in order to ensure test scripts are up to date

  • Assisting with testing of local regulatory and business critical requirements

  • Collating User Stories for required test verification for relevant scope

  • Leads some working sessions attended by AstraZeneca finance teams

  • Assists the testing of interim states with the Global Function Deployment Lead

  • Review test evidence in timely manner and clarify where defects arise

  • Additional ad hoc work as required to enable the success of the Axial Programme

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Strong influencing and communication skills both written and verbal

  • Large project experience using SAP (ideally S/4HANA)

  • BAU experience in Statutory Reporting (local unit or group consolidated accounts)

  • Professional finance certification (or studying towards)

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline or equivalent experience

  • Understanding of financial processes within AstraZeneca
