Director, RDU IT – Business Partner, Quality

This is what you will do:

As Director, IT Business Partner – Quality, you will serve as a strategic IT leader interfacing with the Quality organization in the Rare Disease Unit (RDU). You will drive the development and execution of a forward-looking technology roadmap, championing digital transformation, operational excellence, compliance, and continuous improvement. Your focus will be on enabling innovation and supporting evolving Quality business priorities with modern, validated, secure, and compliant technology solutions that advance Quality effectiveness and deliver measurable business outcomes and value.

Role emphasis Partner with Quality leadership to translate business strategy into a pragmatic technology roadmap that strengthens quality systems, inspection readiness, data integrity, decision support, adoption, and value realization across RDU Global Operations.

You will be responsible for:

· Act as a trusted advisor to Quality leadership, translating business strategy and Quality priorities into actionable technology initiatives and investments.

· Champion the adoption of foundational and AI-driven solutions, modeling best practices and leading initiatives that drive measurable impact on Quality effectiveness, decision-making, and scaling AI solutions across RDU Global Operations.

· Build and maintain comprehensive Quality business capability maps that align IT services and solutions, optimizing end-to-end processes for improved outcomes, standardization, reuse, and value realization. Collaborate with business owners to continuously update capability maps and align investments, designing services with clearly defined roles and KPIs.

· Initiate and lead Quality IT projects and programs, including data integration, system digitization, analytics, automation, and process enablement, ensuring quality, timeliness, and regulatory compliance including GxP, GMP, GDP, privacy, security, computer system validation, and data integrity, underpinned by strong business cases.

· Partner with Quality, Operations, and IT stakeholders to strengthen the lifecycle management, reliability, adoption, and continuous improvement of Quality-enabling systems, platforms, and digital capabilities.

· Oversee effective change management, communications, training readiness, and solution adoption across Quality teams and cross-functional stakeholders.

· Maintain collaborative and outcome-oriented relationships across AstraZeneca/Alexion IT, RDU, Quality, Operations, and external partners/vendors.

· Manage and develop talent within Quality IT, fostering a culture of high performance, learning, psychological safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

· Support key enterprise activities such as annual operating planning, system strategy, risk management, audit/inspection readiness, and regulatory reporting as they relate to Quality and Operations.

· Drive end-to-end delivery management across the full project initiation and lifecycle, including SDLC leadership, demand shaping, qualification for bid/financing, staffing, client management, delivery/execution, governance, and benefits realization.

You will need to have:

· Bachelor’s degree in business, information systems, life sciences, data science, engineering, or a related field.

· 10+ years of technology leadership experience in pharma, biotech, or life sciences, supporting Quality IT, Operations IT, or adjacent regulated business areas.

· Experience leading large, complex projects/programs and operations in a global, matrixed organization.

· Strong business acumen with experience implementing, optimizing, or scaling enterprise technology, digital, data, analytics, automation, or Quality platforms in a regulated setting including GxP, GMP, GDP, GDPR, privacy, security, validation, and data integrity expectations.

· Demonstrated ability to partner with Quality and executive stakeholders, influence strategy, shape demand, and drive delivery of measurable business outcomes.

· Excellent analytical, problem-solving, facilitation, stakeholder management, and communication skills, with the ability to present clearly to senior leaders.

· Demonstrated leadership in developing teams, leading through ambiguity, and fostering collaboration across business, IT, vendor, and external partner groups.

· Strong organizational, portfolio management, delivery management, and project/program management skills.

Preferred:

· Expertise in IT/Business Relationship Management, acting as a strategic partner in a complex, matrixed life sciences or healthcare organization.

· Experience building and scaling partnerships between Quality, Global Operations, and IT, influencing business strategy and enabling transformation.

· Deep knowledge of pharma/biotech industry, especially Quality, Global Operations business processes, regulated technology enablement, and value realization.

· Experience with Quality technology domains such as quality management systems, laboratory systems, validation lifecycle, data integrity, inspection readiness, complaints/deviations/CAPA/change control, document management, training, and analytics.

· Experience leading innovation programs, pilots, co-creation initiatives, automation opportunities, or AI-enabled solutions in a regulated environment.

· Experience facilitating business process redesign, operating model improvement, adoption planning, and benefits/value realization.
