Associate Director, Supply Chain Business Intelligence Reporting & Analytics
At Alexion Pharmaceuticals, the Associate Director of the Centre of Excellence for Business Intelligence, Reporting, and Analytics plays a crucial leadership role. This position is responsible for establishing and leading a new team dedicated to harnessing data to drive both operational and strategic enhancements. We are looking for a dynamic and transformative leader who can craft and implement a comprehensive business intelligence strategy. This strategy should align with the organization’s objectives, ensuring that data-driven insights enhance the quality of decision-making processes across the company.
Accountabilities
• Strategy and Leadership:
o Develop and implement a business intelligence strategy to ensure effective data-utilization for operational and strategic improvements.
o Orchestrate the creation and evolution of a Centre of Excellence in Business Intelligence, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
o Align the business intelligence and reporting strategy with the overall mission and goals of Alexion Pharmaceuticals.
• Governance and Partnership:
o Establish robust data governance practices to ensure data quality, integrity, and security.
o Serve as a key partner to Operations and IT, facilitating collaboration to ensure seamless data integration and utilization.
o Act as an intermediary between business sponsors, division heads, IT departments, and other collaborators to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Team Building and Management:
o Build and lead a high-performing team of analysts and data specialists dedicated to delivering business analytics solutions that support critical business functions and initiatives.
o Cultivate a collaborative and innovative culture within the team.
• Data Quality and Management:
o Apply best-in-class technologies such as SAP, AWS, Azure, PowerBI, Snowflake, and Collibra to enhance data management practices.
o Lead the gathering, cleansing, and organization of data from various sources to ensure accuracy and reliability.
• Collaboration and Collaborator Management:
o Collaborate with collaborators across the organization to understand their data needs and deliver tailored reporting solutions.
o Engage with senior collaborators to ensure alignment and support for data initiatives and represent the data team in meetings involving multiple functions.
• Data Analysis and Visualization:
o Use tools like Power BI for the analysis and visualization of data, providing actionable insights that enhance decision-making and operational efficiency.
o Engage in sophisticated data science and analytics, identifying trends and patterns to contribute to predictive models and optimization strategies.
• Advanced Analytics and Reporting:
o Drive the adoption of advanced analytics tools and techniques to enhance decision-making processes.
o Monitor and report on critical metrics to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
o Bring data to life by presenting it in engaging and insightful ways, using compelling data-led storytelling techniques.
• Industry Awareness and Insights:
o Stay informed about industry trends and standard methodologies in business intelligence and analytics, incorporating relevant insights into the organization’s strategy.
o Understand emerging research-related technologies in data analytics and their applications in data and consumer insights.
Crucial Skills/Experience
• Solid experience and familiarity with SAP, AWS, Azure, PowerBI, Snowflake, Collibra, and other best-in-class data management and analytics technologies.
• Strong analytical skills with experience in compelling data-led storytelling.
• Superb communication and presentation skills to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights.
• Strong leadership skills with experience leading teams and working cross-functionally with senior stakeholders.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities.
• Strategic and creative problem solver with a proactive, solution-oriented approach.
• Naturally curious, with an innate ability to question and dig into challenges to enable robust research responses.
• Confident and assertive, with the ability to advocate for ideas while remaining open to constructive feedback.
• Solid communication skills with the ability to articulate narratives with data.
• Keen problem solver able to demonstrate critical thinking.
• Good attention to detail and proactive in preventing errors.
• Deep understanding of analytical techniques and experimentation methodologies.
• Advanced degree (MBA or equivalent in Data Science / Technology / Computer Science) preferred, with a background in quantitative fields and experience in the Pharmaceutical or Technology sectors a plus.
Desirable Skills/Experience
• A degree in IT Analytics, Data Science, or a related field is advantageous.
