Associate Director, Master Data Global Process Owner

To align with Alexion's strategic ambitions, the Master Data Global Process Owner (GPO) will oversee the end-to-end governance of master data across Alexion Operations, ensuring data is treated as a strategic asset central to our digital vision. This role is pivotal in creating standards, frameworks, and policies for master data management, thereby driving consistency, quality, and compliance. The Master Data GPO will work closely across functions to eliminate silos, strengthen data ownership, and improve overall data governance. This role is critical in shaping the future of data governance within Alexion and Alexion Operations. As a Global Process Owner at Alexion Operations, you will be part of a network of Process Owners who drive maturity and impact across our end-to-end processes, ensuring we continue to transform the lives of patients globally.

Accountabilities

• End-to-End Governance: Lead and be responsible for the governance of master data processes, ensuring alignment with enterprise data standards and compliance requirements.
• Framework Development: Develop and implement a comprehensive master data governance framework that includes policies, standards, and procedures for data management.
• Launch Readiness: Ensure that all activities related to master data for new product introductions (NPI) are well understood, established with clear service level agreements (SLAs), and aligned with policies to facilitate timely and right first-time launches, thereby minimizing delays and enhancing operational efficiency.
• Collaboration: Partner with master data owners in various functions to clarify roles and responsibilities, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence in data governance.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for process improvement within the master data lifecycle and implement standard methodologies for data governance.
• Data Quality Assurance: Establish metrics and processes for monitoring data quality; initiate corrective actions as necessary to maintain high standards of accuracy and reliability.
• Training & Support: Provide training and support to function-specific data leads and stakeholders to enhance understanding and execution of data governance principles.
• Strategic Roadmap: Collaborate in defining a strategic roadmap for master data initiatives, driving enterprise-wide alignment and ensuring resources are allocated efficiently.
• Enterprise Leadership: Serve as a key stakeholder for the Alexion and AstraZeneca Data Offices, facilitating communication, integration, and alignment of data governance initiatives. Serve as a key stakeholder to AstraZeneca’s Axial process/ERP program, ensuring alignment and smooth integration into the global design for master data.
• Digital Supply Chain Twin: Leverage information from the Digital Supply Chain Twin to drive prioritization and implement process improvements related to master data.
• Culture & Capabilities: Help drive a culture of data across different functions, promoting data literacy, changing behaviors, and upskilling capabilities to empower teams in effective data management and governance and support our digitally-savvy workforce initiative.

Essential Skills/Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field
• Experience in data governance, data management, or related roles, preferably in a global organization
• Consistent record of handling master data programs or initiatives
• Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, metadata management, and data quality principles
• Familiarity with master data management tools and technologies (e.g., MDM systems, SAP, data lakes)
• Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills to influence and foster collaboration across multi-functional teams
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address complex data issues
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for effectively articulating data strategies and governance policies

Desirable Skills/Experience

• Advanced degree (e.g., MBA, Master’s in data management)
• Experience in project management and change management methodologies to lead initiatives and facilitate transitions effectively
• Operational excellence qualifications such as Lean Six Sigma or PMP
• Power BI experience
• Life Sciences / Pharma experience
