Senior Manager – IoT Platform
Job Title: Senior Manager – IoT Platform
GCL: E
Introduction to role:
Are you ready to architect a global IoT platform that powers manufacturing, quality, and supply operations to deliver medicines to patients faster and with greater reliability? This role puts you at the center of how we connect equipment, data, and processes across sites to drive real-world outcomes—reducing downtime, improving product quality, and accelerating supply to those who need it.
You will lead the strategy and delivery of a modern, secure, and highly available IoT platform, integrating edge data with enterprise systems to unlock value at scale. In this environment, you will be empowered to take ownership, challenge the status quo, and push boundaries with cloud-native services, event-driven patterns, and robust governance. If you grow with building partnerships, orchestrating sophisticated integration, and elevating performance through data and automation, this is your moment.
Accountabilities:
- Take charge of the complete IoT platform strategy and reference architecture. Ensure scalability, security, and high availability. Align with enterprise standards to deliver measurable outcomes in manufacturing, quality, and supply chain.
- SAP Integration and Enterprise Connectivity: Design and govern seamless integration between IoT platforms and SAP (S/4HANA, ECC, SAP BTP), enabling reliable flows to SAP PM/EAM, PP/QM, and MII/ME/DM; define patterns using APIs, events, and middleware to ensure transactional integrity and data consistency that supports business-critical processes.
- Cloud and Infrastructure Architecture (AWS): Architect and govern AWS-based IoT infrastructure across IoT Core, compute (EC2, EKS, Lambda), storage (S3, EBS), and networking (VPC, VPN, Direct Connect); drive multi-account strategies, security baselines, resilience, disaster recovery, performance, and cost optimization in partnership with enterprise cloud teams.
- Data Platform and Database Administration: Be responsible for the collection, retention, and transformation workflows for time-series and relational data, data lakes, and analytics platforms; define data models, retention policies, and tuning strategies that ensure data quality, availability, and compliance.
- Platform Operations and Run Excellence: Own day-to-day operations including monitoring, alerting, handling system resources, performance management, patching, and upgrades; define and handle SLAs, SLOs, and important metrics; implement ITSM-aligned processes (incident, problem, change) and drive continuous improvement.
- Guide and support system designers, developers, infrastructure specialists, and operations while building and scaling teams with a balanced mix of internal talent and partners. Handle vendors and system integrators. Ensure predictable delivery across build, run, and improvement streams.
- Build and uphold platform blueprints, patterns, and reusable assets. Establish governance models for onboarding new use cases and sites. Review and approve solution builds to ensure compliance and effective information exchange.
- Security, Compliance, and Risk Management: Guarantee that the platform aligns with enterprise security, data privacy, and regulatory standards (including GxP where applicable); implement identity, access, and network security controls; support audits, risk assessments, and remediation activities.
- Collaborator Engagement: Partner with manufacturing, quality, operations, engineering, enterprise architecture, security, cloud, SAP CoE, data and analytics teams, and external vendors/system integrators to align roadmaps and deliver sustained business value. How will you translate complex requirements into secure, scalable solutions that improve performance across multiple sites?
