Job Title: Senior Analyst - Solution Owner

Career Level: D1

Introduction to role:

Are you ready to own critical data solutions that power a global enterprise and ultimately help deliver medicines to patients faster? Do you see yourself guiding teams to turn complex, fast-moving data into reliable pipelines that drive confident decisions across science, operations, and commercial?

In this role, you will set the vision and lead the delivery of robust data platforms and pipelines that keep the business running at pace. You will connect engineering excellence to tangible business outcomes—measurable reliability, cost efficiency, and performance—so colleagues can focus on high-impact work.

You will be a trusted partner who aligns architecture and standards across functions, coaches engineers, and shapes a roadmap that scales. Your ownership will be visible in clear benchmarks, high-quality releases, and platforms that are secure, compliant, and built to last.

Accountabilities:

  • Solution Ownership: Define and own the solution vision, architecture, roadmap, and benchmarks for data pipelines and platforms, ensuring alignment to enterprise standards, security, and regulatory requirements. You will set direction from day one and evolve the solution as needs grow, balancing speed, quality, and risk.

  • Technical Leadership: Lead design and implementation of robust, scalable batch and streaming pipelines using Airflow, Databricks, Python, and SQL on AWS; ensure observability, cost efficiency, and performance. Your designs will lower time-to-insight and reduce operational incidents.

  • Platform and DataOps: Establish CI/CD, automated testing, orchestration, monitoring, and incident management practices; drive reliability and change management across environments. You will build the guardrails that keep releases safe while accelerating delivery.

  • Architecture and Design: Translate business requirements into logical and physical data models; define patterns for ingestion, transformation, and serving (Delta Lake, medallion architecture); advise on Snowflake usage where appropriate. Your patterns will become reusable standards across teams.

  • Governance and Quality: Implement data quality controls, lineage, cataloging, access management, and compliance with data privacy/security standards; enforce coding standards and review processes. You will improve the data you can trust.

  • Collaborator Management: Engage product owners, business collaborators, security, and platform teams; manage expectations, communicate trade-offs, and report progress, risks, and outcomes in clear, non-technical language. You will turn complex choices into clear decisions.

  • Roadmap and Delivery Management: Plan and prioritize backlogs; coordinate cross-functional work; manage scope, timelines, and budgets; ensure high-quality releases and operational readiness. You will keep the team focused on outcomes and delivery.

  • Team Leadership and Coaching: Mentor engineers; facilitate knowledge sharing; develop a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and psychological safety. You will grow capability and create a high-performing, resilient team.

  • Vendor and Partner Coordination: Lead all aspects of third-party contributions; evaluate tools/services; manage contracts and SLAs related to the solution. You will get the best from partners while protecting value and standards.

  • Continuous Improvement: Measure and optimize data pipeline reliability, performance, and cost; drive automation and standardization; sunset legacy approaches. You will make the platform simpler, faster, and cheaper over time.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Experience: 7+ years in data engineering with a track record of delivering production-grade pipelines and platforms; At least 2+ years in a technical leadership or solution ownership capacity.

Core Technologies:

  • Airflow: DAG design, scheduling, dependency management, extensibility, and operations.

  • Databricks: Spark (PySpark), Delta Lake, MLflow basics, cluster governance, performance tuning.

  • SQL: Advanced query optimization, data modeling (3NF, dimensional/star), and ELT/ETL design.

  • Python: Clean, testable code, packaging, dependency management, and performance tuning.

  • AWS: S3, IAM, Glue/Lambda, EMR/Databricks on AWS, CloudWatch, networking fundamentals, and cost management.

  • Data Architecture: Strong understanding of batch and streaming patterns, medallion architecture, data contracts, schema evolution, and partitioning strategies.

  • DataOpsand CI/CD: Experience with Git-based workflows, automated testing, infrastructure-as-code, and deployment pipelines.

  • Collaborator Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to translate technical details into business outcomes and influence senior collaborators.

  • Process and Management Skills: Backlog management, prioritization, risk management, resource planning, and budget awareness; familiarity with Agile frameworks.

  • Snowflake(Good to have): Data sharing, virtual warehouses, storage/compute cost optimization, Snowpipe, role-based access, and performance tuning.
