Introduction to role
We are recruiting for a Software Engineer for our Data Marketplace team. This is a full-time Grade D role based at our GITC site in Chennai. As part of AstraZeneca’s Enterprise Data Marketplace (EDM) capability, we are seeking a Software Engineer to take ownership of the hands-on engineering of user interfaces, APIs, data models, and workflows using BPMN, Groovy script, and other tools. You will be accountable for the clarity and accuracy of diagrams, excellence in code and test-driven development, and collaboration with the Business Analyst, Project Manager, Scrum Master, and Tech Lead (Chennai-based principal engineer) to ensure effective day-to-day execution of a metrics-driven SDLC.
Accountabilities
You will need a collaborative delivery approach to be successful. We use Scaled Agile with standard-length program increments (12-14 weeks). You will provide technical leadership throughout our software development lifecycle, from the initial development of a technical design based on a blueprint, right through to hypercare. Essential Skills/Experience
Deep understanding and practical knowledge of IDE’s eg Eclipse/PyCharm or any Workflow Designer.
Experience of one or more of the following languages: Java, JavaScript, Groovy, Python.
Deep understanding and hands-on experience of CICD processes and tooling e.g. GitHub.
Proven ability in converting a proposed design into an automated solution.
Prior work experience in converting a business workflow into an automated set of actions.
Proven knowledge in scripting and a willingness to learn new languages.
Hands-on experience in database concepts and fair idea about how data gets stored in the backend and connecting them to the UI.
Fantastic written & spoken English, interpersonal skills, and a collaborative approach to delivery.
An enthusiasm for great documentation (e.g., high level designs, low level designs, coding standards, Knowledge Base Articles).
Desirable Skills/Experience
Engineering Degree in IT/Computer Science with minimum 3 years of experience
Knowledge and experience of Collibra Data Governance platform.
Any exposure to AI models and AI governance is an added advantage
Knowledge and experience of MuleSoft and Snaplogic
Excellent Jira skills including the ability to rapidly generate JQL on-the-fly and save JQL queries/filters/views/etc for publishing to fellow engineers & senior stakeholders.
Creation of documentation in Confluence.
Experience of Agile practices, preferably having been part of an Agile team for several years.
