About the opportunity
The AstraZeneca R&D Data Sciences & AI Graduate Programme is a two-year opportunity for graduates eager to build a career at the intersection of data science, AI, and drug discovery. Through three eight-month placements, you'll gain hands-on experience applying data science and AI techniques across various R&D functions and therapy areas. You’ll develop technical skills in data analysis, machine learning, and AI, while expanding your scientific knowledge and receiving mentorship from industry experts. This is your chance to shape the future of drug development with cutting-edge technologies.
Programme Details
Start Date: September 2025
Duration: 2 years
Structure: Three individual eight-month placements
Focus Areas: Machine learning, AI, and data science in drug discovery and development
What You’ll Gain

Placement Opportunities
Target Identification: Identify new targets for novel medicines.

Clinical Trials and Digital Health: Redefine clinical trials and digital health to improve patient experience and outcomes.
Essential Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative science (e.g., Maths, Physics, Statistics, Computer Science) awarded in 2024 or due by September 2025.
Experience: Hands-on experience in Data Science, AI, Machine Learning, Statistics, Computational Biology, Computational Chemistry, Bioinformatics, or Cheminformatics.
Technical Skills: Deep understanding of key machine learning or statistical models. Proficiency in Python or multiple data-centric programming languages for Big Data analysis.
Attributes: Innovative thinking, enthusiasm, energy, drive, strong critical thinking, planning, organizational and time management skills, and ability to work collaboratively.

Assessment: After submitting your application, you will complete an online assessment (SHL). Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a full-day virtual assessment day.
