Director, Global Partnerships & Stakeholder Relations

The Director, Global Partnerships & Stakeholder Relations will play a pivotal role in advancing our company’s multilateral stakeholder relations, leading the delivery of key strategic platforms, engaging external stakeholders on our sustainabilityprioritiesand supporting AstraZeneca colleagues in markets to engage on sustainability priorities.

The role will report to the Global Head of Sustainability Corporate Affairs,Partnershipsand Chair’s Office,whose team is accountable for our group-level external and internal communications, policy and public affairs on the sustainability agenda;thedesign anddelivery of global platforms and partnerships(incl.the Sustainable Markets Initiative (SMI) Health Systems Task Force, World Economic Forum (WEF) and programmes and multilateral engagement);as well as our Chair’s internal and external engagement strategyand programme. 

To be successful in this role, you will develop strong, trusted partnerships with a variety of stakeholders, both internal and external. You have solid knowledge in the field of healthcare and sustainability, a keen interest in current affairs, politics and policy, and an ability to upskill quickly on new areas. You are as passionate as we are about our work, have an entrepreneurial mindset and a proven ability to solve problems through collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Lead best-in-class delivery of key global platforms(e.g. World Economic Forum, World Health Assembly, UN General Assembly) to strengthen key stakeholder relationships, advance our enterprise priorities and drive a leading corporate reputation.

  • Leadstrategic development and delivery of flagship global partnerships,including the SMI Health System Task Force, chaired by AstraZeneca’s CEO.Act as the key lead for the Company in liaising with peers in other organisations. 

  • Design programme strategies and strategic communications plans to maximise engagement at platforms,incl.speechwritingand content creation.

  • Drive internal alignment on key priorities for engagement within platforms and partnershipsacross multiple teams within AstraZeneca. Advance shared goals, prioritytopicsand communications to maximise amplification and reach.

  • Lead internal senior leader briefings(includingforSenior Executive Team, senior leadersand Chair/Board as relevant)onbusiness andpolicy-relatedtopics,both in written,presentationaland verbal form. This may include current affairs topics as well as briefings ahead of strategic engagements on a diverse range of strategic issues.

  • Lead monitoring and insights gathering for multilateraland government-to-government developments,of relevance to the healthcare sector, in close partnership with colleagues leading monitoring for policy and geopolitics.

  • Providestrategic insights, bestpracticesand guidance across global /regional / localteamsto ensure an integrated, strategic approach to platformsand advocacyacross the enterprise.Advise on best practices for platformstrategy operationalisation, tracking, anddriving continuous improvement across major platforms,partnershipsand events. 

  • Lead budgeting for global platforms and partnerships work across Global Corporate Affairsand support on contracts, agreements and payments with procurement and finance. 

  • Build and strengthen key stakeholder relations and partnerships, including with multilateral institutions,NGOs,including on thetopics of climate, nature,healthequityand health systems resilience.

  • Cultivate andmaintainrelationshipsinternally andwith key partners, advocates and influencers to protect, nurture and build the corporate reputation of the business

  • Manage external agency relationships,as necessary.

Education, Qualifications,Skillsand Experience

Essential:

  • Extensive experience working in corporate affairs, governmentaffairsor policy, withdemonstratedresults within a leading company, agency,governmentor NGO

  • Experience in leading global corporate affairs programmes, including high-profile, multi-stakeholder events and engagements. 

  • Experience in international government affairs, government protocol and engaging with VIPs from the private and public sectors

  • Excellent writing skills and experience communicating political and complex strategic issues, translating them into concise messaging and briefings

  • Strategic thinker and ability tocomprehendcomplex matters and chart a clear path forward

  • Ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership as well as peers, as well as with a variety of stakeholders

  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritise accordingly

  • Eagerness and ability to collaborate with and mobilise different people and organisations

  • Genuine interest in and passion for healthcare,innovationand sustainability

  • Strong political acumen and interest in current external affairs

Desirable:

  • Healthcare industry experience

  • Agency experience, or similar experience working in a fast-paced environment managing multiple, complex priorities  

  • Strong existing multilateral network and ability to build impactful partnerships  

  • Experience working in a global organisation

  • Strong academictrack record
