Director, Global Partnerships & Stakeholder Relations
The Director, Global Partnerships & Stakeholder Relations will play a pivotal role in advancing our company’s multilateral stakeholder relations, leading the delivery of key strategic platforms, engaging external stakeholders on our sustainability priorities and supporting AstraZeneca colleagues in markets to engage on sustainability priorities.
The role will report to the Global Head of Sustainability Corporate Affairs & Partnerships, whose team is accountable for our group-level external and internal communications, policy and public affairs on the sustainability agenda, as well as the delivery of global platforms and partnerships, including the Sustainable Markets Initiative (SMI) Health Systems Task Force, World Economic Forum (WEF) and programmes and multilateral engagement.
Sustainability is a critical theme across these platforms, with a focus on climate and nature action, health equity and health system resilience.
To be successful in this role, you will develop strong, trusted partnerships with a variety of stakeholders, both internal and external. You have solid knowledge in the field of healthcare and sustainability, a keen interest in current affairs, politics and policy, and an ability to upskill quickly on new areas. You are as passionate as we are about our work, have an entrepreneurial mindset and a proven ability to solve problems through collaboration.
Responsibilities
Lead best-in-class delivery of key global platforms (e.g. World Economic Forum, COP, World Health Assembly, UN General Assembly) to strengthen key stakeholder relationships, advance our enterprise priorities and drive a leading corporate reputation.
Lead and support flagship global partnerships, including the SMI Health System Task Force, chaired by AstraZeneca’s CEO.
Lead internal senior leader briefings (including members of the Senior Executive Team and Board of Directors) on a number of topics, both in written, presentational and verbal form. This may include current affairs topics as well as briefings ahead of strategic engagements on a diverse range of strategic issues, including but not limited to sustainability.
Lead monitoring and insights gathering for multilateral developments, particularly in the global health space and at global fora such as the G7, G20 and COP. This will be conducted in close partnership with colleagues leading monitoring for sustainability policy and geopolitics.
Build and strengthen key stakeholder relations and partnerships, including with multilateral institutions and NGOs, and particularly on the topics of climate, nature, equity and health systems resilience.
Partner with colleagues in key markets to localise AstraZeneca’s integrated Sustainability agenda, with a focus on climate action, health equity and health system resilience in support of enterprise and policy priorities.
Support best practice sharing across global /regional / therapy area / local platforms to ensure an integrated, strategic approach to platforms across the enterprise.
Provide strategic insights and guidance to the team and Global Corporate Affairs function, advising on key metrics and measurement to ensure delivery of goals.
Cultivate and maintain relationships with key partners, advocates and influencers to protect, nurture and build the corporate reputation of the business
Manage external agency relationships, as necessary.
Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Essential:
Extensive experience working in corporate affairs, government affairs or policy, with demonstrated results within a leading company, agency, government or NGO
Excellent writing skills and experience communicating political and complex strategic issues, translating them into concise messaging and briefings
Strategic thinker and ability to comprehend complex matters and chart a clear path forward
Ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership as well as peers, as well as with a variety of stakeholders
Ability to work under pressure and prioritise accordingly
Eagerness and ability to collaborate with and mobilise different people and organisations
Genuine interest in and passion for healthcare, innovation and sustainability
Strong political acumen and interest in current external affairs
Desirable:
Healthcare or Sustainability industry experience
Agency experience, or similar experience working in a fast-paced environment managing multiple, complex priorities
Strong existing multilateral network and ability to build impactful partnerships
Experience working in a global organisation
Strong academic track record
